well, that is the only bit I had read... Quite funny that The Hindu doesn't print these interviews... :)

But yeah, if that is what has happened, then it is fine. I guess Dhoni is doing the right thing.

Still think Dravid needs a break, though.
I take four papers and only one of them, Hindustan times published it but they gave it a bold 1" high six columns wide headline !

Can I just say a big "I told you so" to all the Indians who thought that their triumph in the T20 WC actually meant that their bowling, batting and fielding had improved dramatically. Realistcally, we should be 6-0 up. We threw away one match and one was abandoned by rain which we would've won.

The Indians have been given a cricketing lesson by the Aussies...Poor cricket all-round by them, especially after the expectations they set themselves following the T20 WC.

They're quite simply, not as good as some of you think they are.

Link please, I remember you saying everyone was saying that heaps but I didn't actually see any of that here from memory.

I'm not going to go digging through pages of threads to find a quote, but a lot of them were saying it, almost immediately after their victory. I was telling them to not get so ahead of themselves, but they just accused me of being bitter. Go and look yourself. Why would I make that up?

It's like the guy who wears a tinfoil hat and when you ask for evidence, they look at you and say 'Why would I be wearing the tinfoil hat if the government wasn't scanning my brain?'

Again, who? Only you had it in your head that everyone was saying it. No one said they were a better ODI side because they won the Twenty20 WC.

Who is this, 'some'? Many of us were even tempted to take up SJS's bet of Aussies going 7-0.

Again I remember you saying everyone was saying that there and you were putting words into the mouths of Indian fans but I can't recall many, if any saying stuff like that.

I dunno. Nishant was one name I remember, yet he seems to be mentally ******** to some extent. Nnanden I think was another one. Hell even SJS was suggesting that Dhoni was an excellent skipper based upon the T20's and that India look a whole new side. So much for that though.

Ah ok, so now Dhoni being an excellent skipper = India being a great side? That's a good one. So New Zealand were world beaters under Fleming, right?

India's fielding and running between the wickets improving vastly was another one which people argued had happened, and would therefore transfer into the ODI arena. Surely you remember this?

People were going on about how great it would be for the Indian cricket team overall, it would bring them together etc...They've been accounted for easily at home by Australia. So much for that.

Dead set, worst post. Honestly, brag all you like, but at least be consistent.

India threw away yesterday's game as much as Australia threw away the fourth.

And most Indian posters here never... EVER talk up the Indian team, so don't stereotype okay? Cheers.

I didn't say most Indian posters. I just said the posters who thought the T20 win meant you'd be a better side overall. It was a minority, but they were still hilariously wrong.

Oh ok, so first it was Indian posters, then it was because someone said Dhoni is a good captain, and now it is a minority. You know what else is a minority occurrence? Australia losing games. But because now we can generalize, I can factually say that 'Australian team are losers', because they in fact lose a minority of their games.

Read my post "to all the Indians who thought...", hence I was directing it at the Indians who thought they'd actually improved. No one else.

hey, I am really sorry if it came out like I wasn't believing you. What I meant to state was that the cricket coverage in The Hindu is becoming slightly biased nowadays, it just seems to me... Sorry if you had taken it the wrong way. I always believed that what you said was true. :)

yes, the running between the wickets and the fielding HAD improved in the Twenty20 WC. Care to disagree with that? Just because it has again gone back to being bad here doesn't mean it wasn't good back then. And yes, Nishant only said that our running between the wickets and fielding had improved, IIRC and it was true back then. Now it's not...

No no HB :)

I did not write that post for any such reason. Never thought of it. Relax.

I was just mentioning a fact because I too was surprised that one paper should give such prominence to Dhoni's defense of Dravid while all others should make it sound as if he was deliberately being tight lipped about it.

But you really are very sweet. I loved all the sentiments in that post. :)
