Mark Boucher 396 and counting....

tbh I think Boucher has plenty of fans and is slightly overrated

He is an ok 'keeper and an ok batsman, but this record is testament to him being

(a) largely injury free
(b) playing for a team that plays plenty of tests
(c) being the 'keeper for a strong team with a good bowling attack

He's played plenty of games to a decent standard and the records have taken care of themselves, but he probably isn't even in the top 3 or 4 keepers (or keeper/batsmen) of his own era

Congratulations all the same

Yeah, SA are currently the anti-England with a stock pile of good keepers that are also good batsmen
Aren't they meant to move to England and play as a Kolpack and stay for good and play for England, or discover that British passport like a lot of other South Africans?

I think most people realise this, but TBH I can't think of anyone who's undoubtedly a better wicketkeeper than him throughout his career, other than Nayan Mongia (very briefly) and Alec Stewart.

Congratulations to Boucher, not often he gets the recognition he deserves. Fantastic keeper and solid batsman.
A fantastic keeper? He's a solid keeper at best.

This is a tremendous achievement, don't get me wrong. But he's nothing more than a solid wicketkeeper.

No way. If he was Australian he'd be fantastic, for sure.

He certainly kept well in the 1 Test against England, very well (though they say he was less than brilliant in his 2 games in India) but with the van Wyks and (though he had yet to debut) de Villierses, both of whom are fine wicketkeepers in addition to their batting ability, it really rather begs the question of how he got in, TBH.

Tsolekile got into the team due to the quota system (something i just can't help but hate) he was a decent keeper, but he couldn't even bat to save his life, but c'mon he is far from being the worst player to make it to the South African side due to quota system, when somebody like Justin Ontong can be selected again and again then what's the big deal in Tsolekile getting a chance.

Tsolekile was always on a hiding for nothing, aside from quota’s his selections never felt as anything more than a two finger salute by Ray Jennings to Mark Boucher. Although, tbf to Thami his batting at the time wasn’t terrible, was averaging over 35 in domestic cricket (for the year) and coupled with his wicket keeping skills his selection really wasn’t that scandalous.

That's certainly true, at least.

ummmm in case you didnt notice in that list his average dismissals per innings is just slightly behind gilly's and moreover its above 2.0 which seems to be hard even for quality keepers to maintain. So if you dont mind I'll just go ahead and call bollocks on that one
