***Official*** England in Sri Lanka

That Shah has not done it very often. You need to do it more than twice in a career.
Which he has.

Nicking an innocuous ball to the wicketkeeper doesn't make someone a bad batsman? O...K...
Erm, no it doesn't. Can you name one batsman in the history of world cricket that has never got out to a ball which hasn't been unplayable?

Any fool can do this if they get given the chance to do. Andrew Flintoff did a couple of times in 2004, for instance - what's he done of late?
Absolute lunacy. If any fool can make a one day hundred then we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place. The idea that any half-decent batsman can make a one day hundred off 90 or so balls after only one let-off is frankly hilarious.

Yes, frankly. Any fool can if they're given let-offs. Fact is, neither of those two have been so far, so we haven't seen any evidence.
Patent nonsense. The last time i saw Ian Blackwell bat for England he could barely hit the ball off the square. To compile a one day hundred is not something anyone holding a bat can do, because even if you considered Shah's innings after he was let off, to score 60+ quick runs in an international match towards the end of an innings is not something that any old idiot can do. If you can't recognise this then this is a pointless debate.

Not really. That occasion (which he was lucky to get) and his debut are the only times he's struck the ball at the end of an innings in his career.

OK, not best put. Nicking an innocuous ball to the wicketkeeper and doing many other silly things to get out cheaply innings after innings doesn't make one a bad batsman?

Well you'd better believe it, because I've seen loads of nothing-more-than-half-decent batsmen make ODI centuries (often with let-offs) just because they've been given more opportunities than they should.

It is, though. Any old idiot can do it once. If you give any decent club cricketer enough chances, he'll do it eventually. People get way, way too overexcited because someone manages to do something once or twice, and it's one of the reasons we get so many wholly mediocre cricketers playing ODIs for such extended times in this country.

I hope SL play Warnapura and Kapugedera soon. I would rather they played even if we lost 1 or 2 games.

Back on, Sidebottom has put England in control with a couple of wickets. Rain again though.

Sri Lanka in trouble, Sangakkara gone.
This attack *Anderson Sidebottom Broad and whenever possible Flintoff is starting to look like a very good attack.
Quite exiting actually:happy:

Its never easy to bat under lights at Dumbulla ooops... i mean Dampbulla () so England needs to bowl out the Lankans as cheaply as possible, that is whenever the game starts.

Not Terrible
Sangakarra walks when no Englishmen appeals and when his team isn't in any comfortable position.

What a legend.

Anyway Sri Lanka in real trouble, will do well to get to 150 now.
So gun  at everyone who gave England no chance :p
Frankly I am amazed how the last two games have turned out. England seem so charged and Sri Lanka so weary.

I think its time to say adios to Jayasuriya. Although I cant say who they have on the bench.

Puts India's recovery in the odi series to level it at3 all before the final game in much better perspective. And it was England playing at home.

Hey, don't talk as if England have won, we can still lose this ignominiously :D

Still, another for Swann.
