240/250 will be a good score here, looks pretty windy. Looks like there are 4 people at the ground as well. England bowling well so far.
I'd be astonished if we keep SL to below 280 from this start. They're going very nicely now.

That's probably why he got the nod. Still, he hasn't done anything in his ODI career so far to suggest he could do the job required at #7.
There not really anyone else at amount with a better List A or Sri Lanka A record really. Perera, Weijkoon and Warnapura all have average List A records as well.

Haha - Anderson getting smashed.

Does anyone else reckon he looks like that guy from Las Vegas and the Transformers movie?

Yeah, post was written before Jayasuriya got going, the game has changed very quickly.
Yeah, I thought that may have happened afterwards. Given the lack of experience of our middle over bowlers, this could he horrible now. Given that we haven't actually passed 180 since 1982 in a odi in SL, we're probably looking at another rubbing.

Kaushal Lokuarachchi IMO, he is ideally suited to bat at #7 and send down a few overs, especially with Sri Lanka's main spinner currently injured. Also, Warnapura's average isn't that dis-similar from Mubarak, and he is a much classier player, I daresay he could score quicker also. Angelo Matthews is another option for the future.

England lucky that the drop didn't cost them too many runs, Jayasuriya could have taken the game away from them. Time to put pressure on Tharanga and dry up the runs.

If I was that dog I would have ambled over and lifted one leg next to the stumps...

Notice how the next ball was bowled before the dog left the field? What if the dog took the catch down at long off? Surely the batsman would have to walk...

Tharanga again proving that he can't handle it against quality bowling, which is what Broad and Sidebottom have delivered to him.

Don't see why you need a bowling option when you have Dilshan and Jayasuriya, regardless of whether Muralitharan playing or not. Warnapura score slightly slower then Mubarak these days and is better suited to the top order then lower middle order. He started his career as lower middle order batsmen and struggled starting to spin. Made his name as top order batsmen due to his ability to play pace.

Not a Muburak fan by any means but if list out the other players credentials you can see why his been picked for moment regardless of his dad's influence.

Yes! Broad gets his man. Worked him over and in the end Tharanga just threw it away. Really impressed by him (Broad) so far today.

Although my wife is speculating that he's not a natural blond?

Well Lokuarachchi would add another bowling option, which could never hurt, since it doesn't appear that Jayasuriya has that much longer left in him. Better to get him in the side and see if he can perform when there is less pressure on him, than having to perform because they have no other options. Besides, you wouldn't be losing that much with his batting. He'll score his runs much quicker than Mubarak and can clear the ropes when he needs to.

In saying that, Mubarak's form at the World Twenty20 almost demanded a spot, infact his Twenty20 record as a whole is very impressive. Makes it even more frustrating as to why he hasn't performed for Sri Lanka when needed.

Lol - what's with the 200 people simultaneously deciding to jump the fence?

Sangga struggling a bit, while Jayawardena is showing his class from the go.

His more suited to Twenty20 cus he doesn't have the temperment to play big innings. Its the reason why his average is so low. He can't convert 50s to 100s. His perfect for quick fire 30-60 you need in Twenty20. I rather a batsmen at number 7 then a bowler all rounder, regardless of whether the batsmen is average. You never know Muburak could learn how to get past the ninties and score a big hundred one day. Lokuarachchi will only be ever good for a quick fire 20-30.
