I fair siclair would have to do something at a domestic level beyond belief to get selected. You might suspect if there is an injury to one f the batsmen he might get selected, but I bet even in the case of an injury there will be some weal excuse not to select him, wrong position, not what we are looking for..blah blah blah

Cumming was reasonable against Sri Lanka. Couldn't complain there.

I'd like to see us playing a batsman at 6. Oram isn't really a great test bowler anyway.
Very handy with the bat though, but playing both Styris and Oram is a bit much for me.

I think I would like Taylor in the team to blood him while Flemings still there to put some good words in his ear. As for Gillespie  where's the love for Jeeves?
Was considering Patel ahead of Vettori, then remembered he's the captain. Two spinners in SA? Not sure on that one. Actualy, screw Gillespie, if we get an excuse to drop him then Patel is in.

If someone came home and the likes of James Marshall were selected ahead of Sinclair I think I'd go insane TBH

Oram is handy, but his form and the fact Styris is a better batsman anyway push him above Oram in my mind. he's just as good at holding an end doen to which is all Oram is really good for in tests.

SA wouldn't know what to do, the perfect move. My Jeeves bias is going to get him in to trouble one day, Bracers will hear me and listen and Vettori is going to get mauled because of it.

true i forgot that SA don't really like spin. Would Patel and Vettori get much turn though?

Agreed. Oram either needs to focus on his batting alone and show improvement or getting his bowling up to standard to really warrant a place in the test squad.

Can't agree more. Personally I think he'll concentrate on the batting.

Bracers? Listen??? To anyone other than himself???

If Bracers don't like 'em, then he'll be replaced by a Marshall twin. In fact, if Bracewell could clone the Marshalls, the New Zealand cricket team would be made up only of the curly haired goons. He'd also take away the Paddy Power of their passports.

So, if we were able to do the selections again, who gets picked? My team
VincentRedmond
Papps
Sinclair
Fleming

Styris
McCullum
Vettori

Is Franklin actually injured by the way, or is this more spin doctoring from the Bracewell camp (he needs more training, blah, blah, blah BULL****)

I thought Redmond was a No.3?

Also on the subject of African imports, whats the talk on Kruger Van Wyk and Colin De Gronholmme?

On Franklin, I think he is inured but there was definitely talk of changing his bowling technique. Now this could end up meaning, more swing, more pace, more accuracy, less injuries but with our track record and Braces being a control freak that does dumb things...

Kruger... well, he's always going to be second-fiddle to McCullum. He's got a good coach and time on his side though.

De Grandhomme (sic) looked bloody good the only time I saw him play for Auckland. I think he's a Zimbo though, not a Yarpie. He did look to have quite a bit of talent though.

Redmond is traditionally a #3, but he did pretty well for Otago last year, and he opened a number of times.

Heck with the holes in our top order he should probably just try to develop that aspect of his game as much as possible. For the sake of the country. :)

Sinclair open? Not again, far to talented to waste there. He deserves to be used at 3-5 where he belongs.
That'd be a very fair reason not to open with him if he was actually getting picked in the first place. Sinclair is a better opener than Cumming and Papps from what I've seen, even if he is better suited to 3 or 4.
