Just started day 2:

End of Over 111 (7 runs). Asterix XI: 375-4, runrate=3.38
Gowshall 29-5-96-0
Cuss* 172 (266 balls)
Ashton 127 (156 balls)
Last Wicket: Boeta c. Mulvaney b. Came 37 (FOW: 135/4)

Declaring on 400-something, hopefully bowl them out pretty quickly, batting till the end of the day and probably declaring again overnight. Got 116k for today so definitely worth stretching it out to three days, especially with my wages probably going to be in excess of 400k.

Just bought this guy for £700k:

Philip Mcinally (1567445)

RH Batsman, RF Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, lively
A steady player with superb leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: Anchormen
Nationality: England
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 5,650
Wages: £711 p/w
Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: competent Concentration: competent
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: woeful
Fielding: worthless

It's ridiculous how expensive players are these days, but I'm not too displeased with the price. He's not in desperate need of stamina or secondaries, he's got superb leadership & abysmal experience, and if I'm not mistaken, is close to respectable. Even though I was hoping for my 2 batting trainees to be cautious & attacking, I'd rather him be steady than defensive (Gray) or destructive (Mcmillan).

Actually, can anyone tell me how close he is to respectable batting, roughly?

Haha I lost by an innings and 189 runs with Naidoo taking 13 wickets for 11 runs in the match....

My last seven players failed to score a run in the second innings. I'm not sold on FC yet as it seems that pitch type has a huge effect on the match from what I've seen, I got rolled by one player basically but then again I could just be very bitter about it. :p

I might play a full-strength team next week and see how I get on.

Jamees 999ers 221 all out (Warnock 53, Lea 49, Wanless 32, Snodin 31)
Xanadu 407 all out (Bardle 40.4-18-64-7, Laws 30-1-138-1, Snodin 3-0-18-1, Aldred 28-3-93-0, Fitzpatrick 21-2-77-0)
Jamees 999ers 115/3 (Warnock 46, Todd 31*, Ndah 13*)

Those not outs are off 76 and 56 balls respectively, so we should be able to grind our way to a lead. Cattermole - their gun - doesn't seem to be bowling that much, but took two wickets anyway. Time at the crease is going to be so important.

The guy im playing has been online once in the last month so im guessing he could end up just batting all day again and i might get a draw prefer if he just dec yesterday it would be over today and i'd have saved some PFL.

Slightly annoyed that my opposition have managed to take the game into a 3rd day at their ground, but it's been a cracking day of evenly contested cricket.

Essex Eagles: 50/10 (27.4) Woods 4/34 (10), Marrison 3/4 (5.4)

The Heath CC: 300/10 (119.4) Gardiner 75 (216), Kepler 57 (130), Talbot 55 (155), Antrobus 5/71 (28.4)

Essex Eagles: 223/6 (72) Mears 57 (132), Wali 54 (85), Hardy 2/40 (16), Woods 2/47 (18)

Essex Eagles trail by 27 runs.

Hopefully I can finish them off tomorrow morning without needing to bat again. Going by the last two days, batting seems much harder in the morning, before getting easier after lunch. Has anyone else found this?

Going pretty well actually, it could be really close unless their 75,000 BTR opener keeps going as he is (69 from 70).
Prophetic words.

Mr four-asterisks has a job to do tomorrow.

Meanwhile, due to a bug in WI, I got shown my result just after I'd finished batting.

Cleveland Heights 210 all out
U Wadeer 48; G Harris 4-54, D Tuck 2-33

Dynamo Morpork 386-0 (72 overs)
S Herbert 209*, D James 166*

Cleveland Heights 88 all out
D Preece 25; D Tuck 5-6, G Harris 4-23

22 points and a win without losing wickets. I'll take that.

Everyone to come is set to defensive or ultra-defensive as I try to ground out a draw. It all rests on ****.

I'm a little worried about finances myself, as I still only have the default 6,500 stadium and will be losing more games than I win this season. My morale is likely to be the wrong side of happy most, if not all of the time, and I'm not going to be close to filling my stadium, or really adding significantly to my membership.

That said, I have £534k in the bank, so I should be ok for now. Already looks like I'm going to be playing Div VI cricket in both forms next season though.

I'd say you're wrong, unless you're **** or in a tough league I'd say you'll be better off. My match only lasted 2 days, got 6k and 7k into the ground each day and notched basically exactly the subsidy. Once I build some morale I'll rake that **** in, easy as pie.
We only play 7 FC home games though, and we had been getting the FC subsidy every week of the season (18 weeks?) meaning you need to rake in around 140k gate receipts for each home game to match the FC subsidy. (Thanks to Morpork for pointing this out to me the other day :p)

If you're in a tight situation with finances, i'd stop putting money into ITS altogether until you're on top of things.
