20/20 because the world cup was rather long and boring. I didn't get a chance to watch too many either.

Watched just about every game of both tournaments. And both were disappointing. The ODI WC because of the tournament itself and Twenty20 one because of the format. I did enjoy both though like I enjoy most games of international cricket, just slightly disappointed as well.

Also, how one's own team performs also influences.

I was terribly disappointed with India's poor show, the WC lost its charm for Indians their itself, I am sutre the same holds for Pakistani fans.

If I am asked which I enjoyed more, T20 WC or the Natwest series just before that my answer would be unequivocal qnd spontaneous - the Natwestseries.

What was wrong with the Twenty20 format?

IMO, anybody that gave the Twenty20 World Champs a fair chance (ie, not Richard and Matt79 to name a couple) would have found that tournament more enjoyable than the ODI World Cup.
I didn't even need to "give it a fair chance" though - I knew full well what would happen if I watched it, it'd be like if I was watching The Simpsons or bread drying. It just doesn't interest me, at all. Even if someone were to score 100 off 20 overs... it's not just the fact that 4-25-0 becomes, ludicrously, a good spell; it's the fact that it only lasts 3 hours. Not enough can happen in such a short time to interest me.

T20 for me. We were pisspoor in both tbh, but the fact that a lot of contests in the T20 were still on at the last over is the clincher for me.

It's also a bonus that I can stick a match on on a Sunday afternoon and not get the same grief for hogging the TV all day that I do when i watch an ODI/Test :D. And that I can watch a match after work, all of it. :)

Ther was no stagnation in the T20 tournament (I mean a whole Boody month of second round group matches played so leisurely you's have thought the tournament was going backwards literally) and the Windies fans certainly didn't make such an unholy fuss about their early elimination from the T20 world cup as the Indian and Pakistan fans did which kinda helped everyone else enjoy the Tournament

See, this is were you are being a touch ignorant I feel. Obviously it's up to you what you're going to enjoy, and nobody else can dictate that, it's a personal thing. But by saying "I don't like it", without giving it a chance is a bit harsh. Do you really think that because India and Pakistan score 150-odd from their 20 overs that it wasn't enough to make up for the contest of that game, the passion in which it was played and the context that surrounded it? Because if you do, I feel sorry for you.

150 in 20 overs, in itself, just doesn't interest me. It doesn't feel much like cricket. I don't care if the bowlers can take wickets for most of the innings; that's not, to me, them being "in the game". As I said - a spell where 7-an-over is a good economy-rate just does nothing for me.

It's not like I've never "given it a chance"; I have watched bits of Twenty20 games (I've even watched the odd one from the start) and it's never done a thing for me. It's too frenetic; everything is about attack - batsmen because they pretty well invariably have to, bowlers because real, good defence (ie, to 4-an-over or so) is pretty much impossible - and I don't like that in a game of cricket; I like a balance between attack and defence.

I didn't watch the recent tournament because I've already made-up my mind about the format. There'd be as much point in me watching the swimming as there would watching Twenty20; I already know I don't enjoy either. That's not going to change just by keeping on watching it. The fact that there was a contest and good atmosphere doesn't matter - you get that in many sports. If you don't enjoy the play itself, nothing else really matters. I could watch a boxing match between Ali and Frazier, IIRR considered the ultimate contest and where the atmosphere is pretty much always electric - and it'd still do nothing for me, because boxing doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Neither. Was really into the first round of both. Really went off both the longer they went on. Didn't bother watching either final.

I feel sorry for you Richard, if you're unable to appreciate some of the more beautiful and wondrous things about sport.

Don't. I don't find them beautiful or wondrous TBH. I'm quite happy enjoying what I do about sport.

Anything to do with England being crap?

EDIT: And Scotland being eliminated after the first round.

No doubt, otherwise I'd question why you watch sport, which would be silly. I still feel sorry for you, particular in the case you mentioned of Frazer-Ali.
