How good is he?
Bits and pieces... He'll never be setting international cricket alight anyway. Accurate and unspectacular with the ball and solid but unspectacular with the bat... Richard would probably say that Andrew Hall is a poor man's Grant Elliott ;)

Well, at the time he was eligeble, he wasn't good enough... besides, and here's one to keep all the English fans awake tonight... I'd rather have Kallis, Dravid, Ponting, Lara, Cook, Yousuf, Jayawardene playing for my team, because at least you know they are playing cricket and not playing for the cameras...

Poor attempt at stiring up some controversy.

Yeah he's alright, but he's no great shakes.. A bit of a Bopara or Mascarenhas at best really..

No way is Elliott as good a bat as Bopara... probably more on a par with Mascarenhas I'd say (though I'd also wager Elliott's more likely to succeed at test cricket than ODI cricket, strangely)

I really don't mean this disrespectfully, because I love the New Zealand team. I'm looking forward to seeing them under Vetorri, and I have so much respect for their team, but seriously, it is going to be easier to play for NZ than it is for SA or England. The country is rugby mad, it's a small island, and natural NZ talant always runs the risk of being lost to Australia. It's a pity, because NZ are amougst the hardest working cricketers and the most underrated on the planet.
Maybe one of the reasons for the Saffie sportsmen's defection is numbers. Out of +- 3 million NZ'ers your chances of being picked for a team is much better, especially as there is no quota system, which lowers the chances even more. Could be the same for other countries too.

Right, before we start this, if you already have a negative view of South Africa and are here just to be judgemental, don't bother, we're here to have an educated discussion.
A bit of a random preemptive strike surely? I haven't noticed any vein of anti-SA sentiment around here.

No, but this poster isn't quite yet experienced in these ways.

And anti-SA sentiment does run around in many places.

Word has it every county will have a kolpak player next season,in some cases 2.
According to the rules each county can have 2 non english players, only 1 can be an overseas player, the other presumeably is a kolpak player.
As said earlier even glamorgan want a kolpak player, and they would be one of the counties least likely to sign a kolpak player.
So i expect many saffies, plus a few zimbos to jump ship.

I don't think legally that the ECB is able to say to counties they can only have one Kolpak. The nature of the precedent means that any citizen of a country with a trade agreement with the EU has the same employment rights as an EU national.

Strictly speaking if a county wanted to field 11 Kolpaks the ECB would be powerless to stop them.

Exactly, and that is the nature of the beast...

Totally pointless post, I just wanted to say nature of the beast before the day is over

Yes its far more likely counties will go for 1 kolpak each, altho struggling counties are likely to sign more than 1 kolpak.
After nicky boje's start i'd say he would sign a kolpak contract,he has been nrothenats best batsmen and bowler of late.
