Not sure if its been mentioned, but Mascarenhas' ODI batting career consists of one four and ten sixes!
Yes and he has an average of 88 , best of anyone on both sides, more than twice the number of sixes than anyone else on either side (Colloingwood has 5) and has a batting strike rate of 163 much higher than anyone on either side with fifty runs or more.

Hello. First post, but I have been reading these boards or quite a while now. Always scary to join in etc.

Anyway, been a Wright fan for a while as he used to play for my old team as a kid. Has lots of talent, only just flourishing. Haven't watched the game, cos I'm in Germany, but on TMS Gavaskar was raving about him. He said the word Brilliant several times...
Welcome to the forums!

Yeah I heard Gavaskar on the radio earlier too, he made some interesting points on his light footwork. First time I saw Wright play today though, looks like a very promising find for Eng, he should make a good impact in the 20/20 wc

Crap Captaincy by Dravid... lets hope Ganguly realises india's chasing 300+ score and plays like that.

Seem to be bowling a touch too straight early on, allowing the Indian openers to constantly work to the ball to leg with minimal risk. Need to bowl better lines. It is early days mind.

This is getting embarrassingly easy, isn't it. And this is our most experienced oneday bowler too.

So what's Broad supposed to have said to Ganguly then? It must have been quite something to get that sort of reaction from the ump.

I think Monty Panesar is going to have a big say in this ODI. Spinners have been reasonably effective at the Oval in one-day cricket this year, no tactical genius behind why I think this at all, just a hunch. Think he may show why he can be a match winner in ODI's. Or am I just setting myself up for a big fall!!

I think he is going to be hammered, personally. We'll see though.

Hmmm. Last year, SL chased down 324 in 37 and a half overs. India to chase something similar even faster today?

This is beautiful stuff from Sachin. He's had such a fantastic series, I hope all the critics who were claiming he was past it and shouldn't have been in the team have been paying attention all summer.

Really, if England are going to have Mascarenhas at 8 with no Flintoff in the team, they can't afford to play Panesar, IMO. Bringing on Mascarenhas and Collingwood as first and second change is just too innocuous. Having Mascarenhas tie out one end with his economical stuff is fair enough, but it can't really be done with Collingwood at the other end. England need three genuine seamers for each game IMO, and Mascarenhas, as much as I think he should be persisted with as a bowler, doesn't qualify. This lineup would be fine in Flintoff was at 7 instead of Wright, but they just lack too much in the bowling department for mine. Should have played Lewis or Tremlett (if he's fit yet) instead of Panesar.

It's tempting to bemoan England's lack of a 3rd fulltime seamer, but I reckon SRT would have murdered Tremlett or Sidebottom in this form. But you wonder what the point is in prreparing absolute roads given the strengths of the two sides.

Really enjoying Dada's game as well, that little spat he had with Broad and then smacking him down the ground for six next over was brilliant entertainment
