***Official*** India in England

Blimey. Pretty fair effort. Can't recall a better partnership from an English 8 & 9 ever. I'd more or less given up at 114-7 & stuck Scrubs on, only to find we hadn't lost by 9.30 and were in fact in with a shout.

Yeah good call, privately scoffed at it when I read it at the time though.
A wiser move than my rather publicly disagreeing with Phoenix's post

Well, well, well. How encouraging is that for us long-suffering England fans? IIRC that's the second time that young Broad has hit the winning runs in an odi this year. He may well have a better odi average than his dad at present, fwiw. He may also turn out to be the answer to England's prayers as a bowler who can bat at 8 in the test side, but perhaps that's another point for another thread.

All very odd. Powar was looking absolutely brilliant when he got rid of Shah, but he barely threatened after that. Likewise Chawla, on a wicket that was clearly offering more trhan a little assisitance.

****in' hell! This is so embarrassing, struggling against England. Pathetic. :@

Being optimistic as usual, I believe India will still win this series. But it's just all so pathetic, if we struggle/lose like this against England... Imagine what Pakistan/Australia would do to us. Sheesh!

Give England the credit they deserve. In general they have looked the far superior outfit this series

Didn't deserve to win off that batting performance. Bell's wicket was shockingly poor, Flintoff needs to learn the meaning of the words "play straight", Collingwood's run out was diabolical and with every passing day it becomes more and more blindingly obvious that Mrs. Prior should have considered the pill.

Broad's a complete gun, though.

India deserved something from that imo. The spinners were good and the seamers far improved. They were better in the field too, Powar aside. **** me, he's dire.

Yeah.. they've out batted, bowled and field India. They've been superior in every department so far in the series.
Anyway typical indian match.... so close but no cigar.
Good partnership by Borad and Bopara.

Heh I'd deliberately forgotten about this at 7 down, knowing I'd check it later just on the off chance England won and if they lost then at least I didn't have to follow the torturous nature of England's batting.

Not only good, resolute stuff from the lower order but also it shows up the pathetic performance from a few of the more recognised batsmen.

Yeah, bit of a throwback to a simpler cricketing era is our Ramesh. Clearly has little truck with new-fangled notions of "fitness" or "fielding drills", but I do love watching him bowl all the same tho. Really beautiful, orthodox, high offie action.

Dude I am not taking anything away from England. They've played really well, and have improved a lot.

But more than anything, India has played some really shocking and disgusting one day cricket.

What is up with Flitnoff, I know Ashes 2005 was his purple patch batting-wise but seriously he's not this bad surely?
