i still predict india to win the series TBH...you can laugh as much as u wanna now....just watch how india suprises everyone now! GO INDIA!!!!! (or should i say Chak de India!)

India need to start fielding if they have to have a chance. Or England have to really play badly.

Its amazing that India managed to keep Laxman out of the ODI side (when he was scoring runs as if at will) on the pretext of his not being a good fielder and are carrying half a side who are worse than him.

The fielding is not bad it is disgraceful and then we have the "great" Gavaskar saying "These things happen we should not blame RP (when he dropped a sitter) for it. These things happen"

Maybe he is happy India continue the experimentwith Robin Singh and Prasad and no proper coach who can actually order the players to be on the field on time for practice and make them sweat it out on fielding drills.

Chappell may have had his faults but for all their poor fielding over time , India, this time lastyear had some live wires in the field in Yuvraj, Raina and Kaif and the others seemed to be trying much harder than they are today.

Raina and Kaif are out as is, I suppose, any emphasis on fielding being important if you were to have a permanent spot in the side.

Maybe Ronin Singh just cant assert himself on the stars, super stars and the like as Chappell could with even seniors being disciplined for missing practice.

Whatever the reason, this level of fielding would not have been tolerated at my club thirty years ago !

India are by no means out of it....after all in ODI cricket it just takes one brilliant hundred in an innings and they still have more potential matchwinners with the bat than we do....but oh that fielding. And as far as Ganguly and Tendulkar's running is concerned...if someone who knew about cricket but didn't know anyhting about India's team saw those two running he'd think they had never batted together before..never mind being one of the most succsessful opening partnerships in ODI history.

I can't remember the last time I felt this confident about the future and current success of the England one day side. The balance of the team just seems right, especially when Fred and Mascheranas are back in. I've been hugely encouraged too by the opening bowling of Anderson and Broad, and if we can get a sustained run from Flintoff back in the side bowling 90mph in the middle overs, scoring will be difficult for the opposition. Even though Panesar seems a bit naive at this level, he should definitely be persisted with, if only for a nice bit of variety in our attack. Like has been mentioned elsewhere, with the amount of bowling options available to us, there is simply no need for him to bowl his full allotment of overs if he's not doing well. Collingwood and Bopara are more than capable of making up 15 overs between them, which is extremely handy too.

Haha, its hard to find any huge faults tbh! The only areas where I would be concerned is that i'm still not entirely convinced that Cook has the range of shots or attacking instinct to be a consistent performer at this moment in this form of the game. Also, Prior seems unable to get beyond 30-40, and even then it isn't at the lick we require at the start of the innings. With Mustard dominating county attacks, I really don't see the reasoning for not bringing him in. Its such a shame about the Trescothick situation, because with him and Mustard coming in for Cook and Prior, our one day side could really challenge at the highest level.

And to think, it was only twelve months ago that Tim Bresnan was opening our attack. :laugh:
