Heaven forbid that they should try out one or two of their academy lads for a few weeks ... this is a business, right? 8-)

BTW rain has kept them off for the last 40 minutes or so ... if there's no more play today, do they really have to come back tomorrow? Surely a winner could be decided on Duckworth Lewis.

Tremers goes. Hants now 178-8. If Herr Warne conjures a win from this he's a miracle worker.

& LOL at Bob Willis's dig at Beefy "Durham are nothing like the shambles they were when they first began in first class cricket with a lot of dead-beat has-beens representing them."

Powell goes. 182-9. Pretty gutless effort from Hants today.
I'm not complaining... wrapping this up nicely.

One of the most one-sided domestic OD finals ever I'd imagine, also considering how jammy Crawley was to get into double figures let alone score 68. Dominated from start to finish.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrham...

Well done Durham! Not even S Warne could threaten a 2005 style fightback! Quite why Warney put them in I've no idea...worked when the F was in September but not now...

Don't think it was too bad a call: overcast & a bit of dampness in the air could've meant the ball did a fair bit for Mascarenhas, Ervine & Bruce early on.

Just seen Ottis Gibson's profile, 34 wickets @ 18 for the Windies in one dayers and he only played 15 matches, how strange

Never seen Ervine move a ball off the seam tbh..., more of a hit the deck bowler
He gets a bit of movement, perhaps 'cos of his relatively gentle pace. At any rate Tremlett wasn't bowled until about the 20 over mark, so obviously Warne fancied Ervine more in the conditions.

But Ervine imo is nothing more than a stock bowler...who's also pretty average. Thought he was meant to be pretty sharp when he played for Zimbabwe but just seems to bowl around 75mph nowadays.

Ervine's pretty poor in my opinion from when I've seen him. He just doesn't seem to have any sort of weapons with the ball (movement, bounce, pace, change of pace etc.) and he's erratic.

If I were a batsman and got out to him I'd be well pissed.

Looks like the only match being played this afternoon is a Pro40 match betwen Surrey and Derbyshire at the Oval, reduced to 35 overs. Pretty good effort by Derby to get 227 but Surrey have blazed away to 99-2 off 11 with Newman hitting 62 off 33 balls. He's been talked about as an England possible for a few seasons (mostly at the Oval, admittedly) but it's starting to look as if he may have to settle for a good county career, and few ambitious players are content with that nowadays.

Wish it ws on Sky.

Damn, rain stopped play after 13 overs - am I right in thinking that if there's no more play, it'll be a 'no result?'
