Something inside my head keeps saying that a New Zealand bowler was removed for too many bouncers in the late 1960s or early 1970s. Repeated googling attempts with several names got nowhere. Archie, were you thinking on these lines ?

Yes, Imran was the 1st and probably only bowler removed from the innings for short-pitched bowling.

Cant recall any NZ bowler from 60's, early 70's who would be ferocious enough to dispense such deliveries

I hope you are not thinking of Abid Ali (India) who was called for throwing in NZ when everyone knew NZ 's Bartlett was throwing but he never got called much to the annoyance of Indians during the late 60s...IIRC.

No, I think I was on the wrong track, I was thinking of Lance Carins being denied the wicket of Jim Higgs when he dismissed him with a bouncer, on the grounds that it was intimidatory (spelling) bowling (not sure how old Lance could be considered anything other than medium fast). Doug Walters went onto score a ton and win Aust. the Test and at the time it was thought he had clinched his place for the England tour.

I can't remember if he was taken off, or was just not allowed to bowl any more bouncers at Higgs

cricket is a team game rite. so it could be a combination record which will account only 2 players..not two entirly different records............
