*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

I believe the main issue is that it would need the agreement of a fair amount of Premiership teams, and/or it would need Celtic to start off at the very bottom of the league system, meaning it would take them many years to reach the Premiership. About ten, I think... not sure.

There's a guy at my work who constantly goes on about how they should build a stadium just on the English side of the border, somewhere near Gretna, and just go for it in the English league system, starting at the bottom. :p

Dyer's move to West Ham pulled at the 11th hour by Newcastle apparently...

Good news for West Ham fans at least.

Apparently Dyer has been 'tapped up'.

Watched Ajax and Arsenal today and for a friendly it was a really good game. That said friendly aside Jurgen Collin should of been sent off. I don't blame Flamini for getting upset. From what I saw of Eduardo da Silva he looks another good signing. This years Premiership is going to be interesting.

Nicolas Anelka's school of prima donna lessons have paid of. Actually I think Michael Essien and Robert Pires could also offer some tutorials.

Haha Ghaly, shocking.

I cannot believe how played down this Tevez signing is, even though there was a long-drawn saga about his ownership.

He is a ridiculously huge talent and Manure have landed him at just the right moment, when he's beginning to settle into English football. I'm dreading coming up against Tevez and Rooney with Ronaldo behind them in the latest installment of the FM series, or the next update for CM 01/02. Plunder, imo.

Everton after Luis Gonzalez. A midfielder who scores around once every three games for Porto can never really go far wrong, you'd think, so it should be a great signing if they can outdo the other clubs after him.

I know a lot Man Utd fans, including myself, aren't sold yet on his abilities to perform week in week out in the EPL. ATM i see him more as a Champions League signing then EPL. Still with the addition of Nani, Anderson, Hargeraves, Trevez and Pique (hopefully staying) i can't see too many weakness in our side. By far the best summer we have had in a long time. Feeling pretty confident about this season.

How many games did you see Tevez play? Pretty sure he can easily perform week in week out. Watched as many of his games as I could and he was always fantastic... personally I'd say on par with Rooney whenever I watched him. Great free kicks, too, which we can always use. Every one of the United fans I post alongside at United Rant are well sold with him.

Interested as to why?
Dyer has long-standing knee & shin problems plus an unspecified liver disorder, so £5 million for him would've been great business for yer Geordies.

& that's without touching on his, er, personal issues. I've been told some horrendous stuff by Ipswich supporting friends of mine, but don't wanna libel myself or the site so will say no more.

Is this move something that could actually, logistically happen? Like, how much would have to be worked out to allow Celtic to move leagues?
I think it would be unfair for the First Division teams if only 2 teams went up to allow room for Celtic..

If Celtic went down, would they just say bugger this lets go back to Scotland?

Heard that Real Madrid are going to offer £28m to land both Arjen Robben and Michael Ballack. I've heard rumours about Mark Bresciano ending up at Manchester City quite soon who apparently still owe the Greater Manchester Council (or whatever they are called) over £800k from last season in rent for their stadium.

Turns out that Villarreal left back Jose Enrique will join Newcastle claim Villarreal and this after the signing of ex-Lyon centre-back Brazilian Claudio Cacapa.

Start of the season he was pretty poor and really struggled for mine. Back end of the season he started to find his touch and get used to speed and style of English football. But personally i still think he needs another season in the EPL, before we see something near his best. Its probably just the little things he lacks, but those little things can win or lose you championships, if your striker isn't scoring regularly. Still Tevez and Rooney is a mouth watering combination, if they click together. Could be our greatest ever.

With all due respect, but isn't it interesting that loads of MU fans start appearing from the woodwork all of a sudden?

Haha duly edited :p.

It's funny I watched the whole game then right at the penalty shoot-out I doze off when Chelsea took their 3rd penalty and missed and Rooney hitting the winner. I only woke up when the commentators started to say that United had one the Charity Shield.

Was better than the FA Cup. :p

Also, Craig, didn't know the United fans were ever gone, considering people always go on about how we should stick to our own thread! Or did you mean outside?

I don't mean regular (and half-decent :p) posters in this thread like you, Xavier, Halsey, aussie who support MU, but suddenly when they win all these extra people seem to pop up and say how happy they are because their team (MU) win or just won the Premiership or how things are looking good for 'us'. That's what I mean.

Not that I care too much, but I've just found it as something peculiar.
