The Wheel is Forever
That's a great point, I want to know this too.How in gods name did the coaches let him get away with bowling leg spin before the match?

There is no (head) coach, that might be abit of the problem. How in gods name did the coaches let him get away with bowling leg spin before the match?
Venkatesh Prasad is the bowling coach though and you shouldn't need coaches to tell you about such basic stuff at this level. There is no (head) coach, that might be abit of the problem.
You still have a captain and a bowling coach. They obviously need to control the situation. Regardless of that, you are 24 years old and you're a test player....you shouldn't need to have your hand held. By this time, you need to have figured out for yourself the exact things you need to do to get ready. Not a little kid anymore that you need to be supervised and told to practice properly. There is no (head) coach, that might be abit of the problem.
Indeed, but how much authority does he have? And I'd see him as more support staff as opposed proper head coach. The older players can do without a coach, but the structure with no proper head coach is clearly going to have an adverse impact on the youngsters as can be seen here. Headless chicken imo.Venkatesh Prasad is the bowling coach though.
Well you say they aren't little kids anymore, however professional younger sportsmen alot of the time have stunted growth in maturity and quite often you'll see things like this happen. That's why they need a proper support system to keep them on track and that's clearly lacking here. You still have a captain and a bowling coach. They obviously need to control the situation. Yeah, we do need a head coach and it is a bit ludicrous we have gone to a tour like England without one. Also, I liked how Donald was apparently livid in the dressing room (from what I heard) when England was bowling like crap.Indeed, but how much authority does he have? I think it's a bit unfair to classiy Sreesanth along with young players, and not because he's young, the guy is a complete nut job, i don't think it's any lack of experience that leads him to act that way he does, he's just weird.
Of course, and like I said the captain and coach needed to make sure the practices are run properly. But in the end, it is still his responsibility and his own fault if he does not practice.Well you say they aren't little kids anymore, however professional younger sportsmen alot of the time have stunted growth in maturity and quite often you'll see things like this happen. Yeah of course and I wouldn't mind if he was dropped for the next Test either unless he improves here. I guess Bose could come in for him if needed.Of course, and like I said the captain and coach needed to make sure the practices are run properly. I just saw the dismissal. I wouldn't blame him too much for not using his bat there. He seemed confident that the ball would not hit the stump (as his instant initial shock would also confirm) and so padded up . The argument against it would be that you always leave yourself open to be given lbw like that but given that the umpire was Taufel and 99% times, Taufel would give it not out, I think that it was fair enough that he padded up. Just bad luck.Crap decision, but I guess that's what happens when you don't use your bat against a change bowler..
The majority of the cricket-watching public will watch anything they can get. CW members are largely cricket purists who can appreciate the nuances of test cricket.Yup, i don't think there many cricket fans that think 7 ODI series' are a good thing.
Unfortunately the Indian cricket board are motivated by money not cricket and 7 ODIs and 3 test matches are more profitable than 5 and 3.
Shame really, this test series really deserves a 4th or fifth test.
India still have the edge as far as umpiring decisions go - particularly when you look at who they went against and at what stage of the game they occurred, that's before we get into the gazillion plays and misses and uncontrolled shots India got away with - which was undoubtedly incredibly lucky. I've certainly never followed a game with as much luck as India received for their first 300 or so runs.Good day for India even though a wicket before the close of play would have been nice. The umpires had another bad outing but at least the luck factor has evened out and people will not attribute India's success to luck anymore. Laxman had a poor showing with the bat and he played the same way in South Africa. Time to look into Yuvraj, Kaif and Badrinath if Laxman doesn't fire in the next test either. He has been unfairly treated in the past but this time he has only himself to blame. Shape up or ship out, VVS.
