End of Over 48: 252-3, runrate=5.25
Newman 9-0-37-1
Mubarak* 18 (15 balls)
Robertson 76 (87 balls)
Last Wicket: Sheepy c. Dawood b. Newman 88 (FOW: 219/3)

Very Good position. A Few boundaries to bring it up to 270-ish should do nicely.

Still a very competitive score and with the bowling attack that i have, it's looking an easy win.

1st (me) plays 2nd today in my league - it's the biggest game of the season for me and will determine whether or not I score maximum points. Earlier in the season, I played them at my ground on a flat wicket and won by 1 run on a PAN, so today I'm playing GFI on their dusty wicket. Bowled them out for 187 with wickets shared amongst the bowlers. I slumped to 2/2 but have recovered well and look like being able to win this one. Plenty of batting still to come as well.

Camberwell Carrots: 187/10
The Heath CC: 75/2 (17)

End of Over 30: 141-2, runrate=4.70, reqrunrate=6.25 (265-3)
Leary 10-0-44-0
Tweed* 41 (59 balls)
Neville 30 (43 balls)
Last Wicket: Beechers c. Buffong b. Khan 36 (FOW: 63/2)

It's going to be quite tight at the end of this game.

Camberwell Carrots: 187/10 (47.1) Marrison 3/37 (8.1)
The Heath CC: 189/5 (44.2) Gardiner 80 (134), Kepler 52* (51)

Relatively comfortable victory in the end but it was a topsy-turvy game. Camberwell were 3/3 and 18/4 before the 5th wicket pair had a partnership of 95. 113/4 then became 187 all out as my bowlers took wickets at regular intervals.

The Heath CC were then quickly reduced to 2/2 before Gardiner (80) and Thorpe (41) steadied the ship with a partnership of 88. 90/2 became 94/4 as we wobbled against Camberwell's two spinners, but Kepler came in and blasted a quick 50, whilst Gardiner continued his uncharacteristically slow innings, and between them, the two took The Heath CC to within a hair's breadth of victory. Gardiner was out caught and bowled trying to hit the winning runs, and so Talbot came in and slogged a 4 off his first ball to see us to victory.

Had some good banter with the opposing manager throughout the game - he was on a GFI as well, and apparently his top 4 batsmen were all respectable or proficient (I only have 1 respectable in my side, all the others are competent) so I'm pleased with the way I ran through his top order.

Reporter's Summary:

Camberwell Carrots The Heath CC
Top Order: feeble mediocre
Middle Order: feeble feeble
Lower Order: abysmal abysmal
Seam Bowling: feeble feeble
Spin Bowling: feeble feeble
Fielding: abysmal woeful

First time I've played GFI since the start of the season in the Cup, so that's the first time I'd had a mediocre rating.

Won easily enough in the end, by 7 wickets. As usual their last couple of wickets faffed around to assure that Dillon and Preece barely got any respite.

My innings just finished, I got inserted on a dry wicket and for the first time this season I've been bowled out, for only 251 in the 48th over. The chase should be really interesting to see how my bowlers cope, seeing as this guy had three medium pacers and two spinners in the attack, and I've got four Fast/Fast-Mediums and one spinner. Hope my bowlers prodigious form can continue and see me through, but I have a feeling I might be on the losing end today and end my winning streak on 7.

Was looking sketchy at one point, best bowler of the season so far got carted for 0-63 from his 10 overs and they were chasing down the total pretty well, on 144-4 at one stage and going nicely with their best batsman well set on 83 and scoring quick, but then my young trainee seamer came on for his second 5 over spell and just blew them away, got rid of the top scorer and then blasted the last 5 wickets out for 7 runs to finish with figures of 6-30 and made what looked to be a challenging game a comfortable win, with them all out for 168.

Still got a lot of work to do, though, need to train up my batsmen to be quality then overhaul the entire bowling attack bar my trainee seamer who is probably going to have to spearhead the attack next season while I train others up.

Quite annoyed, he has such an awesome name as well. That said, i wouldn't have been able to free up any nets which relieves the pain a little.

Still without a bid on Tawanda and only one bid on Obrien... not that it matters when the bids come in, but it'd be nice if I didn't get screwed over so I don't end up buying/getting them back.

Just realised, I have the two leading batsmen and the leading bowler in league average

Allen's starting to show his worth now and has picked up 8 five wicket hauls

I'm fairly sure that's the highest total my team has ever gotten. I've got them at 2/32 at the moment.

Getting screwed over in the cup game, cracked pitch, sunny day, so obviously 3 wickets in 3 overs by medium pacers makes sense...

what a load of bollocks.
