CW BT Cup 6

Jungle Jumbo

International Vice-Captain
Male Models 149 (36)
A Singh 4-18
Zebras 150-1 (26.5)
C Cattermole 62*, G Stearman 65

Easy win there. Now back to the league stuff.

Beat oz fans XI in our group's wooden spoon match:

Beard XI 345-3: Janes 125*, Platt 101, Stevens 2-52
oz fans XI 22-10 (7.4o): Wilde 3.4-0-5-6

Meant to rest a couple of players to make the match more competitive, but Mr Rioja had me somewhat unhanded last night, so I ended up on default orders. Oops.
Congrats on the win. Embarassed with my side's performance though.

A better game against The Pillars than the scores would suggest. We were in quite a bit of trouble for most of our innings, with Greening and Staveley going for less than fifty between them, but I think improved batting depth, (Strong+ to No.7 and a Prof at 8), proved important in the end. But even so, I think they could have skittled us had Wikus and Poke not been bowled out, there was nothing left to back up the in-roads made by Sicelo.

No-one apart from Sicelo seemed to want to help out Hocking, and even I was disappointed that they fell one short of a well-deserved fifty partnership. I'd hazard a guess that the batsmen were set too attacking for the Cracked pitch and the bowling attack, as even though we had the edge over them, they should have made a better fist of the chase than that!

Ratings would suggest that Central Districts are of a similar standard to The Pillars, but at a cursory glance, their players seem to be a bit tastier. Should be a good match - I'm quietly confident, but don't rule out the upset!

I seem to have lost track of things -- do I get a bye for this round as well, then?

Better go and find a friendly then!

I wouldn't be; you should see some of the clobberings I took when I first joined in the CW cup. I conceded 426 runs in one of them, on a green pitch on a cloudy day. Ouch. :)

Do any of our fellow knocked-out sides fancy a friendly this weekend, then?

So how does this round work?

Do the losers from the '1st Place' group play the winners from '2nd Place' group, or is there no advantage to finishing first in your group?

6 group winners with the best record plus 4 'seeds' get home draws, they get randomly drawn against 2 group winners with the worst record plus the 8 group runners-up.

Good stuff. Challenged at your place, since I will be sat in a field (hopefully un-flooded) watching bands and being generally stupid on Sunday, so I won't be around to watch the match.
Awesome. I've set to bowl first so you can have a decent bat rather than chasing 50 :)

Yeah you got one more week off.

Also if Hing and Tarick could challenge SKD and Rob that would be great. Even though they are home sides both don't have a lot of net access (i think). So it would make it a bit easier to get the game confirmed on time.
