Can someone please explain to me why Hick doesnt even get a look in for these sides? I mean forget about the fact that he has one of the best 20-20 records around, the fact that he has international experience and world cup experience should count for something surely?
Too old, no matter how many runs he scores he won't find himself in an England team anytime soon.

It's not my personal opinion but I'm pretty confident that it is a fair reflection of the selectors views.
To be fair he has to wear the mouth guard to keep his dentures in place.

So Hick, 41, should be in the England side but Nixon, 37, is too old? And what does wearing a mouth guard have to do with anything? At least he doesn't wear one of those horrible 'Hannibal' masks.
I'm not sure any one of the selections on their own is bad... it's just the whole. For example, in the ODI side I could take Cook, or I could take Bell, or I could take experimenting with Prior opening. It's just the combination that gets me.
In defence of Glenn Chapple there, he's a bloomin good one day bowler, always been consistent at county level (though his stats for his season arnt to hot to say the least), who can hold more than his own with the bat (scored a couple of 50's opening for us). Had his chance at ODI cricket cut by injury, so the selectors might see this as a chance to show himself against international class batsmen.
Ok thats all in 50 over games, but he's been the mainstay in the international 6's team for years. His lack of domestic 20/20 games is due to the number of up and coming seamers we have. Why make your main bowler play in a competition that the county dont rate that highley when you can blood the youngsters? I'm sure the rest does him good.
He's very much like Mascarenhas, been a fantastic OD player for a decade, someone you know can go in at no 8 and either score freely or steady the ship. He deserves the chance.

Age is irrelevant IMO. If Nixon can make it to an England side then surely Graeme Hick should be given some consideration. As such the 20-20 wc is a one off series, so his body doesnt need with be able to withstand the rigours of travelling and international cricket. As long as hes scoring runs in domestic cricket and doing so while maintaining a decent enough fitness level, he should be given thought for a place in this squad.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Cook turns out a success at the ODI level, at least in the near future, unless he has been playing list A cricket with a completely different batting style than he does play test cricket. Im not talking about his slow scoring rate, does he actually have the game to be a success in ODI cricket? I cant honestly ever see him hitting the ball over the top and taking advantage of the field restrictions, and there is absolutely no evidence at the test match level that he is very good at placing the ball in the gaps and nudging ones and twos.
That will probably be the case, im just surprised that almost no one on here has even considered him for their 20-20 side.
