Was at the Brisbane and Gold Coast game last night, and bloody hell it was well worth it. Disappointed that Gold Coast didn't win in Golden Point, but when you have to kick off in that situation your backs are against the wall. The defence was brilliant IMO, even with the try with a couple of minutes to go, the Titans certainly repelled many a Brisbane assult in their own 20. Just under 49,000 people were there. And Sydney is rugby league's heartland why?

Western Force gets bigger crowds in the Super 14 then NSW, QLD and ACT. Say more about the general nature of one team cities in Australia in sport. If Sydney only had one NRL side, plus a couple region sides. Then they would get 40k plus at Telstra Stadium as well.

So why does AFL get huge crowds at their games when they have about as many AFL teams in Melbourne as there is NRL teams in Sydney?

On another note where you at the Manly-Roosters game? Would of been the gunnest night to have been there. Manly beats Roosters 56-0 and Roosters smash Cowboys a few weeks back 64-30 :blink:

Nah i was working, i met Anasta bird after the game though. Pretty hot but not much going on upstairs. Would be a pretty good trophy wife one of these days. :laugh:

Also Melbourne a hole what else are you going to do there then watch a bunch a guys run around in short shorts. AFL more of spectator sport and better to watch live, your always going to get more people to ground, as you miss half the game on TV. Whereas in NRL you hardly miss a thing on TV, so more people will watch the game on TV, unless your into the atmospshere of the grounds.

You're kidding yourself if you think NRL fans are as fanatical as AFL fans. Footy is a bigger religion that christianity in Melbourne, it's lived and breathed there. Plus getting around Sydney to the games is harder, because they're all spread out over the city, and driving around the middle of the city in Sydney to get to Telstra is way more annoying than driving to the MCG.

Also, people in Sydney are whimsical flakes who don't give a **** about anything unless they're winning it. Look at the Swans, got like 3 people to games until they won and flag and now the SCG's packed every game.

There no doubt Melbourne are more fantical about AFL then League fans in Sydney. But a lot of that has to do with the fact that AFL pretty no real competition. Whereas League has Rugby and most fans either hate League and love Rugby or vice versa. There goes half you potential fan base.

Its true in general that Sydney fans don't give a crap about their team if they are losing. But its not always the case, just look at Sharks they seem to always get the same crowds even in the season they won the minor premeirship or made the Super League final. Thats probably got something to do with the fact they never won anything though, so the fans except to lose sooner or later.

But the big problem is getting to away matches at outer Sydney grounds. Takes like 2 hours to get to Shark Park by train and buses. There no train link down this way at all. Cambelltown and Penrith is a bigger treck then Newcastle for me. If you had all the games at SFS and Telstra, like they do in the AFL with Dome and MCG. I'll be surprised if you don't average 20k like they do for Broncos.

A bit too harsh but that's the truth. I just don't go to the games anymore as they lose everytime i go see them play. Agreed that AFL produces better crowds and that it is also a far better sport IMO.

Never stopped Rich Edmunds, I think he'd been to 16 consecutive losses before the Black Caps managed to beat Australia while he was at the ground.

I'm surprised they hadn't worked that one out and had banned him from their games because he was a bad luck charm :p

This is the happiest I've been in a long time to lose a tip. About 6 people in my comp were looking at the full round if Eels got up. This after I thought the Panters were due for an upset win.

Ha, yeah I did something similar: went for the Warriors to get up over the Cows. Better I lose one point than everyone get a three point bonus for a perfect round. I'm currently 1,695th out of 53,087 on NRL.com. 78 points for the season. Top 1000 finish would be nice.

I give out 10 bonus points for my tipping comp, so it's a little more of a hassle when others get the full round.

Anderson gone, Fittler coach. Can't say I'm surprised, don't know why they didn't cut out the middle man and make Fittler coach at the start of this season.
