I've no doubt he would have been a fantastic batsman in the modern ODI era too, possibly even better than he was in his own. But, well, as I say, I prefer just to leave the two eras as they are, and not try to make anyone, however good, exempt to the rules. It probably does Richards even more justice to compare him to players of his own time, really, as that makes him stand-out even more than to the modern players.
