Aftab and Alok are technically must better cricketers that Tushar and really could have gone far with the right attitude. Aftab still could IMO. Tushar will never be much of a batsman but he has a good cricketing brain. He'd be captain at the moment if he could bat well enough to have a place in the side.

I was once a huge Bashar fan but he really is past it. It's unfortunate because they need a solid runscorer now more than ever.
I think that their respective First Class records show that, both having batting averages of around 30 and bowling averages less than 30. Either of them could play in the #6 position for Bangladesh but both are finding themselves on the outer, although Aftab is still involved in the ODI set up and has a decent chance to press his claim for Test selection while Kapali has to do it through domstic cricket.

I would still bat Bashar at #4 in the third Test, see how he does there and make a judgement on him. If he scores a few then it's well and good and hopefully we see him in the next Test team, but if he fails then the pressure will really come on him to perform in domestic cricket to be in the running.

Great opportunity for SL to trial some youngsters in the 3rd Test.

I would therefore go with

Warnapura
Vandort
Kapugedera (not in current Test squad)
Sangakkara
Mahela
Dilshan
Vaas
? Bandara ? Prasanna J ? Mahaoof
Sujeewa De Silva
Malinga
Muralitharan

I definately think that it's a good idea to bring Chamara Kapugedera into the fold, the guy has so much potential that this sort of Test would be perfect for him to gain a bit of confidence at the top level.

well its fair enough to drop Silva he has been the least prominent of batsmen but shouldnt we resting the skipper here just a suggestion he has been on the filed a hell of a long time now since touring NZ. So i bring in tharanga for mahela as well.

Warnapura has been a no 3 all through his playing days. Sujeeva for Vass and Maharoof/ bandara for Malinga will be my other changes if i am selecting.

Think I would be looking to keep Silva in the side, to regain his confidence and hopefully get some runs in the final Test.

Also, I would keep Fernando in the side, he gets dropped enough when he ain't bowling well, surely when he is finding his accuracy it makes sense to keep him in.

I would agree with perhaps throwing some youngsters in but at the expense of others.

Taking all of the above into account -how about this XI for 3rd Test -

Tharanga
Vandort
Warnapura
Sangakkara
Kapugedera
Mahela
Dilshan
Vaas or Dilhara
Sujeewa De Silva
Malinga
Murali

NUFAN

I would pick an unchanged side. The Sri Lankans don't play enough Test Cricket as it is to be resting players..

If Sri Lanka do drop the players mentioned - Mahela, Vaas, Malinga I hope Bangladesh win.

I hadn't realised there was a third Test! Only Bangladesh's second ever 3-Test series if I'm not mistaken - the other being against Pakistan in 2003.

Though I imagine, this'll be their lot for a while.

Sujeeva silva will take vass's place and looks like Tharanga will play hence we are looking at young Warnapura stepping down this is harsh i would have gone for Dilshan for that horrible shot he played, Apart from that i would like to rest malinga and bring in a 2nd spinner which Sri Lanka need to keep warm.

Pakistan 2003 won the last test by just 1 wicket Inzi and Umar Gul winning it so lets hope Bangladesh can provide similar fight without winning of course :)

It looks like Sujeewa De Silva will play in the 3rd test , but I hope they play Warnapura and Tharanga and drop Jayawardene (Prasanna).

With regard to Vaas being released , I hope Murali is released too after the Test series. That will allow Malinga Bandara and/or Lokuaraatchchi (I suspect he is not in the squad) to play the Three ODIs against Bangladesh.

Murali 20 wickets behind Warne ATM. Needs at least 10 in the 3rd Test, if he is to break the record in Australia, IMO. Because that will leave him 10 short coming to Australia.

But all considered, it may be better for him to finish the Aussie series 2-3 wickets short, so he can break the record in Sri Lanka in front of home fans , rather than the booing , jeering he will almost certainly get if he breaks it at Hobart or at Woollongabba.

Meh i want to be there to see him break the record. I don't care if there 20-40 thousand people booing. All that matters is that one passionate Sri Lanka fan is cheering. It would the greatest day of the my life TBH.

Upul Chandana in the squad for ODIs not Lokuarachchi. He might get added now though that Muralitharan has been released.

Chaminda Vaas won't be playing in the third Test, gives Bangladesh a better chance of scoring a decent total and it will be interesting to see how Lasith Malinga handles the respsonsibility of being the spearhead,

Lostman

State Captain
Looks like Maharoof and Tharanga would be playing in the 3rd test. Hopefully Dilshan would make way for Tharanga and not one of the openers.
