He was given a month. That's probably all I'd better say on the matter for now. :)
Richard, instead of revealing a little something each time and then following up with a "that's all I should say for now", how about sticking to MSN? Bit of a farce otherwise.

Well it's not much use for you using MSN because I've never so much as seen you online. I can't see that there's much wrong, though, with saying he's been given a month.

India's England tour starts later today with a match against Sussex. Cricinfo's preview suggests that Yardy and Prior will be playing, but that seems unlikely as England also have a game.

And the forecast for the weekend actually isn't too bad.

Well Karthik going well. I still don't like him up there, but he is certainly making a case for himself. I am very impressed with him, plus his glove work is ahead of Dhoni too.

Karthik > Dhoni as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the long form of the game, IMO, full-stop, simple as, no messin'.

Gambhir on the other hand, should be no where near the the Test team. He has too many weaknesses with the moving ball to be an opener.

Neither do I. Never have, like specialist openers opening. Karthik's technically good, yes, but so are plenty of others. I'd prefer one who'd been doing it before.

However, as far as lower-order batsmen are concerned, Karthik > Dhoni in the longer game. It's an opinion not many seem to share, however.

I haven't met anyone who thinks otherwise, especially when you talk about outside the subcontinent.

Doesn't matter, Karthik's getting the job done well lately and has been an asset as an opener, so who cares whether or not he's a specialist opener. As long as he gets the job done and scores good runs, like he has been (even in India's warm-up game today he's looked good), might as well keep him there.

Indeed. The only point, though, is that I don't see that continuing for long, for that reasons.

Nice to see they're playing 11-a-side as well. It's going out of fashion in tour games.

And something of a shock to see Yardy playing for Sussex. Can't recall England ever releasing a player for a friendly before now - it's not like a semi-final or anything.

Yardy travelled down late this morning, he was not scheduled to play and could have been to my knowledge late to the game (he only had a bowl late afternoon).
