Gutted that Rahim fell on 80, but what a great effort from Ashraful. Vaas on a hat trick now.

Yeah was a great display by Ashraful and Rahim. Wish they had done it in the first innings as well :(

It's too bad this great partnership of these two young batsmen means close to nothing for this test, because all other partnertships only contributed a handful of runs. But anyway, it's good to see that Bangladesh can do well with the bat!

Disappointing to see the last two wickets fall to run outs.

Also unusual to see Murali only take one wicket in the 2nd innings -- just five wickets must be one of his worst Test returns in the last couple of years!

Yeah I love that. So sick of seeing Murali get a bag of easy wickets.. Still 5 wickets in a test isn't terrible.

It's not the first time, nor the last time, we see number 10 or 11 batsmen run out during their efforts to avoid the strike.
Shadhadat was running to the keepers end I think, thus putting him on strike. Besides, from what cricinfo described it was Ashraful's fault as the call for two was a poor one.

Well, there's not too much difference in a real batsman trying to keep the strike to protect his tail-end-team-mate and a tail-ender trying to avoid the strike.

Getting run out, as a tail-ender, while attempting to take the strike just doesn't make sense. I didn't see it (nor read the cricinfo commentary), and simply assumed the run-outs were caused by strike avoiding efforts.

Mushfiq's selection is long overdue. His presence will ensure that we have at least one more compact batsman with a decent temperment to stretch our innings out.

I just hope the pitch at Kandy is a green top and we get a chance to bowl first. Otherwise you can expect more of the same.

Khaled Mashud, while not the best batsman, was reasonably good at occupying the crease.

There is a big difference, some tail enders love to bat even though they aren't very good and the set batsman will still often look to protect the strike, while his partner isn't trying to avoid batting.

I think it was just a poor call, Ashraful decided on two and Shadhadat had to trust his captain, which was ill-advised in this case.

I think his best days are well behind him though. He hasn't seemed capable of even fulfilling that role for the last couple of series. And his keeping's gone downhill too.

I also think Mushfiq will turn into our no.3 in due course.

I was watching the stream and it was a horrendous call. Osafa Powell wouldn't have managed to come back for the second in time.

Isn't that very unprofessional? At test level, a tail-ender should know his task!

Another thing I wonder: I've read some commentaries. Some suggest that Murali was just as good as ever, but that Ashraful and Rahim simply found out how to handle his bowling. That could be interesting for other batsmen that face Murali!

Oh, no doubt that it was time for Mushfiqur to come into the side, personally I would've had him there for the 1st Test. Just pointing out that Mashud has done a fairly good job for Bangladesh in the past.

Why on earth would you want to bat Mushfiqur at #3? Maybe in ODI cricket it's a possibility but at Test level I wouldn't even contemplate the idea, the balance of the team will be better with him at #7 unless Aftab Ahmed or Alok Kapali sort themselves out.
