Out of form. Usually he'll have periods where he doesn't make much runs but not this long. Usually only last a few games and he'll make a good score and maybe fail in a match then go berserk for a few months. His bad form in Tests as unusually carried over as well.

Been listening to the coverage as I'm away from a TV but good ininngs from Samuels. Great to see. Over the last few matches he's been making good contributions and hopefully he can do this in the longer form. HIs ODI form over the last few manths has been good so no surprise really. And Chanderpaul, gun.

Chanders, what a legend.

He's having a massive year in both forms of the game. Absolute champeen.

Indeed, what a gun.

Prior looks to be in good nick, and the desicion Bell got what a total shocker, not sure what planet the Umpire was on tbh.

That was a point I was thinking of as well. Anderson imo should bowl 8 at the start and 2 in the middle overs (30-35). Broad is the probably the nearest England have to a death bowler. Yardy, who I thought was underbowled today could also do a good job at the death imo.
I think Anderson's problem is simply that he is out of sorts, period. His opening spell was nothing special, especially when you see the sort of movement that Rampaul found later in the day. tbh I think Jimmy & SB probably lost us the game with their opening spells. Anderson's actually been ordinary for Lancashire most of the season, and his performance at Lord's was the the exception rather than the rule. I have seen him bowl decent spells at the death, but it was never going to happen today. Sidebottom was just dire.

Broad did very well with his last batch of overs - surpisingly so since he is by some distance the least experienced of the three quicks today. Obviously Fred will be a massive improvement at that end of the innings if he's ever fit again. Not sure about Yardy, tbh. But as I said earlier, a lot of guys would have been expensive against two good batters who have added over 150.

Another dissapointing performance from England's big batsman. I'll gouge out my left eye if Yardy and Shah lead a recovery and England win.

the only reason?...
Pretty much. England's batsmen don't have what it takes in this form of the game. They are just way to tentative. I'm sick of seeing them in this position, they need over 7 an over but continure to score at around 2 - 3. I'd rather see us bowled out than pathetically plod along at this rate in the hope that they might receive some very poor bowling. At least give it a go ffs. They just can't take it to any team.

Rant over.
