Spare a thought for poor old Worcestershire. New Road is a lake, all the 20/20 matches due to be played there won't be, and they've lost the Warwuckshire "derby" because they couldn't find an alternative venue in time. One hopes for their sake they find a venue (Kiddiminster?) for their remaining home 20-20 games.

Solid performance in the field from Lancashire tonight. Didn't see anything of the batting, but the young seamers and the spinners were first class. Jayasuriya is probably a better Twenty20 bowler than a batsman. And if Croft had held that catch at long-off, it would have been probably the best I would have ever seen.

So... Somerset played four lost four in the Twenty20, but topping the group in the 2nd division for the 4-day game. Interesting turnaround.

Will be interesting to see how the wicket plays for the remaining championship games

I don't know what category that's in, but it's gotta win something.

Today's match was rained off by the way.

Sounds like Hamish Marshall is going well:

BBC said:
Hamish Marshall's superb 55-ball 100 led the way for Gloucestershire as they stormed to a 61-run Twenty20 victory over Worcestershire at Chester Road.

The Kiwi opener scored over half of the visitors' runs, bludgeoning 10 fours and six sixes in his century.

If hamish marshall is playing under a UK passprot now then gloucester can sign another overseas player can't they, they should get marcus north back then.

Sky's featured T20 match between Northants and Gloucestershire has been abandoned, you could see how wet the outfield was - and that's Northants' third 'no-result' out of six scheduled matches. The midlands group has been particularly badly hit.

Perhaps they should've shown the match at Beckenham instead - it's been obvious for a few days now that there was more chance of play in a southern group fixture. No doubt the schedules are decided long in advance, but a bit of flexibilty would be handy.

Superb figures for Chris Schofield btw.

What's Ramprakash and Butcher doing in a Twenty20 side?

Edit: OK, Ramprakash is actually semi-decent looking at the stats. Butcher, though...just why?

Well Butch is captain I suppose, and he has played quite a few effective one-day innings over the years - although, to be honest, I think he ought to give T20 a miss. I'm not sure why England pigeon-holed him as a Test player so early on - something to do with his fielding, perhaps? His record of 50-odd Tests and no ODIs is unique for a modern player. Even Justin Langer had a few one-dayers.

If Langer had been born in some other country he certainly would have had 200+ Odi's

That is true, he has a pretty handy record and has torn apart quite a few attacks over the years. His early Test batting probably put the selectors off the idea.

Saqlain Mushtaq is making his debut for Sussex today - playing against his old Surrey skipper Adam Hollioake. Apparently he's now the holder of a British passport. Does that mean he's England-qualified now? He last played for Pakistan early in 2004 IIRC.
