I still cannot believe it. A regulation edge and a brilliant catch. I don't know what Aleem Dar thought it hit--maybe he thought it hit the stump and went through. Even if it hit the pad, he was plumb in front.

Aleem Dar--get some glasses.

:censored: Wtf? I mean how can Abraham be given not out, he was clearly caught at slips and the very next ball he was dropped, i think it might just be Abraham's day.

Arunlal being an idiot and carrying on and on with it...move on already.
Well I carried on about it through dinner. It was an absolutely pathetic decision--one of the worst I have seen in the 15-odd years I've watched cricket. He must have seen the deviation and if he thought it hit the pads, surely it was more than a close call for LBW? Besides--how can you miss an edge like that? It was a really thick edge! Looks like Dar's brain just farted.

If de Villiers ends up with a match-winning innings, more than a few will be pissed. It didn't help either that he "helped" the umpire by pointing to his pads.

I don't disagree that it was an extremely poor decision. But this was like 4 overs after the event! The point has been made, move on with it.
Also Gambhir missed a pretty straightforward chance the very next ball.

Anyway, here goes ABV

Haha, 'stuff Ganguly. Hasn't taken an ODI wicket since 2004, and a couple here so far.

Actually makes me worry what Ntini and company will do when we go into bat. Hopefully the pitch will have settled down by then. Ganguly's 2 in 2 certainly helped my blood pressure, especially since one of them was ABdV.

Actually this is a disciplined bowling effort by India so far - not a single wide or no ball. Nothing in the pitch helps those stats.

With 13 overs to go, South Africa will start thinking about accelerating fairly soon. I'm guessing about 120-140 may be good enough on this pitch, which means they'll have to score at about 7-8 runs an over from now on. Looks like South Africa is waiting for Piyush to come on. :P

Dravid and Ganguly will be the key to India winning this as their concentrated, slow batting is the main thing needed to chase low totals on tough pitches.

I don't know why we are concluding it will be a low total. Gibbs, Kemp and Boucher, and Hall, can still boost South Africa to a fighting total at this stage. Karthik's drop catch may cost quite costly.

Big six! This partnership is worrying. Looks like Chawla is trying to bowl defensively, but doing it ineffectively. If he wants to be defensive he should just employ the Giles tactic. :D

Kemp has arrived. I think we need to look at going back to our pace bowlers, as Piyush goes around the wicket to bowl outside of leg stump. :)

That Ntini over sounds nuts. Ganguly dropped, then Tendulkar edge between two slips who don't attempt the catch, and then eventually Tendulkar is out.
