Genuine strikers involved in transfers worth over £16.5m:

Crespo, Vieri, Shevchenko, Ronaldo, Drogba, Anelka, Lopez, Batistuta, Anelka (again), Ronney, Cassano, van Nistelrooy, Vieri (again), Eto'o, Amoruso, Ronaldo (again), Owen, Inzaghi, Crespo (again), Ibrahimovic, Robinho.
Haha, Cassano and Robinho aren't even strikers.

True that, also a bad career move by Cassano. Sure he may have desperate to leave Roma but surely he should have tried for a club where he'd have a chance of starting.

If its as simple as that then Nicky Butt should never have been sold.
I would have to agree.
When Butt was sold I think one of or both of Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson was at Man Utd and they promised to succeed Keane so it'd be best for Butt to go where he'd have more game time as with Phil Neville. Both of them were helpful in the title race all the same.

Haha, I bet Charlton can't believe their luck. Spurs have just spent £16.5m on a slightly better version of Jermaine Defoe. This makes him, what, among the top 20 most expensive strikers in the world (guesswork)? Not a chance...
Can't see what they're gonna do with so many forwards. Mido, Keane, Berbatov, Defoe and now Bent. Mido looks likely to leave and Defoe will probably have to go. They need more help in their midfield than splashing out so much on a striker.

But Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson weren't very good, however Nicky Butt was always criminally under rated IMO.

At the time Ferguson thought they were going to be good enough though. Agree about Butt being underrated though.

Debatable, they always seemed like stopgaps to me. Granted they underpferformed even by those standards, but I don't think anyone expected them to replace Keane.

Love how Barcelona & Bayern Munich are chucking it in the transfer market some really hot signings.

Looks like Santa Cruz is on his way out from Bayern. Don't know what the asking price is, but it can't be 16.5mil, surely. Tottenham could've had RSC and Berbatov in attack. Dear oh dear.

Just heard Edmilson is leaving Barcelona for Newcastle???. Haha talk about your weird transfers, but i guess if its confirmed it may help convince Owen to stay with the magpies.

How much did Miroslav Klose goto Bayern for? I'm sure I heard 10m Euros, but that can't be right, or is it?

Don't think that's necessary true tbh. Robinho I thought was bought either to play "in the hole" or on the wing. Same with Cassano.
Well I was thinking Robinho was brought to be the super sub and Cassano, well I'm not sure. Get paid a fortune and have a bust-up with management and not play.

Olivier Kapo has signed for Birmingham

For the benefit of Rob Malone, Liverpool are believed to be close to getting Fernando Torres (now I would pay to see Jamie Carragher be forced to speak Spanish) for around £27m, and Luis Garcia is expected to be sold to Atletico Madrid for around £4m and Craig Bellamy could be sold on to finiance the Torres deal, especially after the signing of Andriy Voronin from Bayer Leverkusen on a free. Djiribil Cisse will be sold on this time. All in told, it should raise around £16m for Benitez. This follows the signings of 18-year-old Athletic Bilbao defender Mikel San Jose, Bulgarian U21 goalkeeper Nikolay Mikhailov, 19, plus Hungarian youngsters Krisztian Nemeth, 18, and Andras Simon, 17, from MTK Budapest and Brazilian Lucas Leiva (apparently he is supposed to be gun).
