***Official** West Indies in England***

Well he went on to Bangaldesh and with all the rain about it was as if they were playing in England. Harmison, Hoggard and Johnson had a great time and the spinners were disappointed. :)

Nah, Gareth Batty showed great promise, as had Richard Dawson in India 2 years previously.

Or at least, that was what most said at the time. I said "he's crap" to both of them, myself. :)

West Indies Destroyin PCA MAsters in 2020 warm up. Gayle blasting himself back into form. Think he let a bit of anger out against them bowlers after the WICB reprimanded him..lol. Samuels batted and bowling well.
Gayle's innings was mainly 30 off a Headley over. Dean Headley now plays 3rd Division club cricket for UpChurch and we often play them in league (obviously I dont play since I am not in my club firsts). Apparently he has lost a lot of pace and considering his does not clean up royally, he is obviously a shadow of his best, I saw a glimse of him though and he looked pretty sharp, but hardly rapid (me classing 80mph as rapid btw).

Manee, Just thought of writing the same after reading the previous post. You wrote it...

Gayle inngs was mainly off Headley....

Yes, and as I said, he has lost a lot of pace.

But then again, he still averages 8.78 for his first XI so he is no mug, but it is a very low level.

When we had a Sri Lanka A player for us (dodgy connections), he averaged 9 with the ball, but most of those runs were edges because he was rapid, apparently once timed at 88mph.

I think Bell deserves a bit of a chance. He hasn't played many 20/20's. 2 infact. At an average of admitdly 18. But for a form of the game , which isn't played much at international level (alright its getting a little more time nowadays). And a form of the game , that he wouldn't have played in the domestic since 2005. His international 20/20 average is 18 (in the two innings that he has played). His strike rate is 92.30. Not terrible and not a very relaible stat of two innings. So his domestic stuff. Average 18.80 , strike rate of 108.04. Again not special from a 20/20 player.

At this point , just a quick look at Belly's stats (http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/9062.html) , at how remarkbly similar his domestic and international (batting) averages are. For first class , 50 (45/40) overs , and Twenty20 cricket.

Now Bell in ODI's. Playing in almost all the time a defensive role. A strike rate of 68.

The point im trying to make is that because Bell hasn't proved it yet , doesn't mean he cannot perform. Bell technically is probably Englands best player , and he can get the bowlers to the boundary. He may well be given a new role tomorrow (today , its a bit late) and show us what he can do.

Now Matt Prior , Duncan Fletcher's (albeit brief) pinch hitter ODI strike rate is 2 more than Bell. Granted his domestic 20/20 Strike rate is 138.

Funny clip - Vaughan Loses His Pants

Not sure if anyone caught this clip from the 4th Test.

Michael Vaughan lost his pants whilst trying to stop a drive from Chanderpaul...action from the 4th Test, WI vs End at Durham (June 2007). To add insult to injury, Vaughan dives over the ball which speeds to the boundary. The commentators (David Lloyd and Jimmy Adams) are cracking up in the box. A hilarious moment.

  And the funny thing is you could hear Adams shouting "pull up your pants"! Don't think that would happen to Peter May somehow....

NOOOO, we don't want Bell pottering around for 30 off 35 balls or something. That Twenty20 domestic record is just completely dire and is enough to say he shouldn't be touched with a barge pole, likewise with Yardy and his ODI batting. Every Warwickshire batsman I've looked at has a better Twenty20 record than Bell.

So the first Twenty20 starts with Gayle leaving alone the first 3 deliveries...

and the last two balls of the over go for 4.
