I would put some Blame on young Ashraful he is a very good batsman but time and again throws his wicket away and some of the other shots by the tail enders were well short of what is requird at test level.

How come Mashud is playing his defensive game is not suited to a team in real trouble even though he has been a fine servent for the tigers i would have thought Mushfiqur Rahim would have offerd more.
I didn't see Ashraful's dismissal but after reading the description on cricinfo it does seem as though he threw away his wicket, but you can't blame one batsman for a woeful batting display from the whole team.

Khaled Mashud plays a very defensive game and it comes naturally to him which is very handy in a situation like yesterday where Bangladesh were in real trouble, unfortunately he just didn't get enough runs on the board. I agree with you though, Mushfiqur Rahim would be a better option even though he is inexperienced and young.

Nice work by Michael Vandort, a player who has been seemingly treated quite harshly by the selectors. The guy has only played two Test matches against quality opposition and has managed to score a very good century while his team collapsed around him, whenever he has had the chance it usually comes against Bangladesh which is a shame. A poor fielder from what I've read which could limit him, but I wouldn't mind seeing more of him at Test level.

His major problem is that he no longer scores consistently at domestic level or A level in the last 3-4 years since he made his debut. His average over that period is low 30s in both forms. Back in the early 00s he was averaging near 50 in List A and 40 in FC. Put simply he hasn't scored enough runs lately to really push for a national spot. It wasn't that long ago he got dropped from the A team, due to lack of runs at that level and domestic level.

Yeah I just had a look on cricketarchie at his season by season stats and they weren't very impressive, averaged 22 in the last domestic FC season which is incredibly disappointing for a guy of his talents.

50 up for Dilshan.

Vandorty was dismissed on 117 by Rafique and Mahela Jayawardene came out to the middle after being hit with cramps yesterday, now he has just tonned up.

Dilshan run out on 79, he was looking good for a century. Tharmi's favourite wicket keeper-batsman at the crease now :D

1 or two knocks don't make up for a career of mediocrity.

Will try and do that in the future mate, thought that Tharmi's name was relatively well known.
