Anyhow South Africa have selected a second string squad for they away legs in Tri-Nations. According to SuperSport the plan was always to send a depleted side away.

Luke Watson is apart of White’s 'revamped' Bok squad but his got a rib injury I believe and he will most likely miss out on pressing down a claim for World Cup selection. Bob Skinstad will lead the side.

SPRINGBOK SQUAD : Johan Ackermann, Eddie Andrews, Gary Botha, Deon Carstens, Tonderai Havana (now has groin strain, should miss out also), Michael Claassens, Bolla Conradie, Bismarck Du Plessis, Jannie Du Plessis, Bevin Fortuin, Peter Grant, Derick Hougaard, Wayne Julies, Hilton Lobberts, Johann Muller, Waylon Murray, Wynand Olivier, Breyton Paulse, Ruan Pienaar, JP Pietersen, Jaco Pretorius, Bob Skinstad, Albert van den Berg, Wikus van Heerden, AJ Venter, Cobus Visagie, Pedrie Wannenburg, Luke Watson (injured).

Yeah, don't laugh but Andre has buttocks injury. His seeing a specialist today and if he undergoes the knife he will be likely to miss the World Cup.

Gah, if he doesn't make it then South Africa are fairly well screwed. We all seen what happened to de Villiers and Fourie with Butch James playing inside them :dry:

there was talk copula years back bout the saffies leaving sanzar to join the 6 nations brigade. wonder if this could actually come to fruition. would like to see argies included regardless (i.e. four nations) TBH, would only help raise the profile of the game over there and lift argentinas standard a bit.

According to our news here, the NZ and Aussies are threatening to pull out of the matches if the Saffies don't send their national team to play the away matches.

Good thing for the Bledisloe, I guess. And we might see more fair dinkum series between the touring nations from the northern hemisphere if so.

EDIT: Not really getting across that, I wouldn't like to see it happen. Trying to find benefits out of if the Tri-Nations were to implode, however unlikely that may be.

I don't think it'll happen, but the inclusion of Argentina could only be a good thing for the sport's pretensions towards being a genuine global concern. The trouble is that I doubt the extra money their inclusion would bring in would be enough to compensate for the Tri-Nations pie being cut into 4 instead of 3.

The other option could be for NZ & Oz to say balls to the saffies and bring in Argentina & the Pacific Islands as junior partners. Again tho, the telly rights in SA are bound to be worth a fair bit more.

Read yesterday that Dally Messengers games for nsw (maybe aus, unsure) have now been included in offical rugby records (they were removed following his defection to league). Thought some people may have been interested.

Argentina deserves to join the Tri-Nations.
the inclusion of Italy into then-Five Nations begins to show its fruits.
would be a great sight a match Arg vs. NZ in front of a 30.000 mad crowd in Buenos Aires.

were throwing it around, never be serious though, imagine the loss of money (sponsors tickets etc)

White is angry. He says it's no one's business but ours who we choose to send to play matches. Also, it has been accepted practice in the past by other teams to send a B team so that the A team can rest and recover, including the Aussies and NZ. England sent a B team to us just a few weeks ago.
Hopefully, after the teleconference everything is sorted now.
