Needs 26 wickets in 3 Tests if it's to be in SL. I hope he doesn't get it there so he can get it in Australia and I can actually get to watch it. That's if he tours though.i hope murali plays all three tests, im in SL right now and would love the chance of being in kandy to see him take wicket number 700
Decent statistics... are they OD or FC? Still on the high-side, especially for what seems to be domestic stats.Mohammad Mahmdul Riyad:
Age: 21
Height: 5'11
Batting: Right-hand Bat
Batting Avg.: 28.46
Bowling: Right-arm Off-Spin
Bowling Avg.: 37.35
He has been included for the Sri Lankan tour. Please don't be misled by the information provided on cricinfo which claims him to be a Right-arm fast-medium bowler.
At least theres a Third Test .... but I feel we can hold our own in the 1st Innings of these tests and then when the pitch opens up Murali will clean us up. Plus the bowling will be a lot better because were not playing in the flattest Tracks in world aka Dhaka and Chittagong. I expect 3 pacers (Shahadat, Mashrafe, Rasel) along with 1 spinner Rafique and 2 part time bowlers in Ashraful and Sakib. Not confident here. Muralitharan to hammer us twice.
After some of the stuff he served up against India before tea on day one of the first Test (I think), part-time might be a generous description of Ashraful's bowling.I expect 3 pacers (Shahadat, Mashrafe, Rasel) along with 1 spinner Rafique and 2 part time bowlers in Ashraful and Sakib.
The Bangladeshi Batsmen have had an hour of net sessions each on average everyday with 30 minutes in the middle and 15 each on the side nets. After some of the stuff he served up against India before tea on day one of the first Test (I think), part-time might be a generous description of Ashraful's bowling.
Agreed though, can't see the point of another spinner as there's no-one else in form at the moment, unless the track is going to turn straight away. Sakib's more than a part-timer, he can hold an end up.

True! I still don't understand what was wrong with Enamul Haque Jr. though .....why did they not choose him for the tests?????I've never seen Mahmudullah Riyad play at all, nor have I really read much about him as a player, but his selection seems a bit of a compromise. He has mostly batted quite low in the order for both Dhaka and Bangladesh A, and his bowling has hardly ripped through sides. Sometimes he doesn't even get much of a bowl for Dhaka in List A stuff. Can't see him being a big success.
Ashraful as captain is a huge risk, but probably the only real option. Rafique isn't going to be around for long enough (plus he's a bowler and doesn't appear captaincy material), while among the batsmen no-one has either the mindset or stable position to become captain. Had Shahriar Nafees remained a fixture, he would have got in, without a doubt.

I suspect they will bring Sanath back , although I would prefer someone else to be tried as opener.
You would have thought that they'd have had him there, just in case Razzak is out of form or injured. He's not going to improve stuck in Bangladesh.True! I still don't understand what was wrong with Enamul Haque Jr. though .....why did they not choose him for the tests?????
