Please do.Would you like me to tell you the answer Tapi?
I hope I have it right I just read a bio on the fellow, you were very close mate I must say. Please do.
I was thinking of Frank Chester. His debut was just before the first WW. Frank Foster led Warwickshire to their first Championship title in 1911. And Chester did take part in the War. The only problem was that, after checking his profile, I found that Chester played for Worcestershire, not Warwickshire.
Would never have got it. I am vaguely familiar with the name because he was, IIRC, among the first bunch of players to score 1000 runs in an Indian first class season (with the MCC side in India 1926/7) but knew nothing else.the answer is baaabaabaa (that is my drum roll) Jack Parsons

There was a recent book about an ancient English cricketer's tour of Australia in the early 1900s, written by one of his great grandchildren. Was it him ?
