NoQ13 Did the South African cricketer play post-apartheid?
I thought about that but why should it be near impossible to equal ? Akram came pretty close.Matthews double hat-trick
I will give it to you .Matthews double hat-trick
Rutherford wasn't dismissed twice in the same day on Test debut . That's the difference.I thought about that but why should it be near impossible to equal ? Akram came pretty close.
Ward was the third man dismissed in both hat-tricks and those were the first two balls that he faced in Test cricket. (When Ken Rutherford collected a pair on debut, he was run out without facing a ball in one innings. Had scored a first ball duck in the other innings (he faced 8 balls, actually), he could have done better than Ward )
Also I think they were the only wickets he took for the whole matchI will give it to you .
The individual at the Centre of the question is South African TA Ward. His Unfortunate record -he was dismissed for a King Pair (2 x First ball ducks) within the same Day.
Now any body would admit that its a near impossibility to be dismissed twice in the same day for a King Pair !!
Also Jimmy Mathews took 2 hat tricks in the same day of which Ward was the 3rd batsmen on both occasions. Its a near impossibility to contemplate anyone ever even getting 3 hattricks in Test Cricket in the same day !! Even 2 hat tricks in the same day is unthinkable , IMO. Therefore it will be a record that will remain Unbeatable.
