Chief Poseur to Anfield, you heard it here first

Possibly Bellammy / Cisse in the opposite direction

Medical, apparently, currently underway at Melwood
Wow. **** me. Losing our captian & getting the world's biggest **** & a perma-injured wife-beater in return. :-O

Wonderful bit of business.

Yep, means I don't have to watch the thing. Can understand why people want McLaren sacked.

(disclaimer: only watched from 25 minutes onwards)
Oh, this match ain't over yet, Estonia may not have scored yet in the group, but they haven't played against Wes Brown yet, either.

Great goal, not a great match.

Heh I forgot all about this Estonia v England game, such is my care for football these days. Nice to see Crouch doing well, his name should be the first forward on the teamsheet. Owen has been injured and been a bit meh in between and Rooney has done sweet FA for ages. Rooney would warm the subs bench when he comes back if McClaren has any guts.

Whatever you say about the other forwards, Crouch has also been dire.

Indeed but compared to Alan Smith, his a different class for at least he makes some sort of contribution. Only solace is that Rooney will be back for the winter fixtures and Owen will hopefully be match fit for his been nowhere near the races.

Yea, that explains why he has 12 goals in 20 games for England doesn't it? That's not to mention the fact that he's always a threat and creates plenty of goals with his presence. I don't really care who the goals come against, given what he is he'll create plenty of trouble against Exeter City or Brazil if used properly. Owen can't match that rate of scoring and he contributes zilch when he's not getting goals - yet people wouldn't dream of not playing him.

Unfortunately not many of us actually look at the reality of the situation and get clouded by style and aesthetics. That's why people like Owen so much more even tho he's the other end of the spectrum from Crouch. There's no way Crouch should not be a first choice the way England play, given who our other potential forwards are and how most teams play against us.

Good win, would have liked Lamps to score & silenced his crticis temporarily but all good.
Brown good utility man for United but way of the mark at the international level & Dyer he has pace found himself at the end of some useful long balls & just wasted them not international quality anymore.

Looking foward to the Germany game & the final set of qualifiers, expecting some big things from the team.

If England are lucky Rooney might actually show up for the first time since what, Euro 2004?

Why? And if Lamps wants to silence the critics he might need to touch the ball first. Alongside Owen his was easily England's worst player.

For sure but they are a couple more players in the England side who are picked on name or as in the case of Peter Crouch, Alan Smith, Michael Carrick by club. Rooney's performances or non performances have been no worse than Frank Lampard's, yet considering we don't have a plethora of other alternatives, he has to play.

The topic of discussion should be whether his partner is Crouch or Owen.

Jonathan Pearce – "No one is saying England is the finished product but not many teams come to Estonia and score three. "

That's it, we are going all the way lads! :)

Yea i know, won't comment on Lampard too much 60 plus goals for chelsea over the past 3 seasons, making him arguably the best attacking mid-fielder in Europe but seems to have lost that egde for England since the WC. Should be given the drop & hopefully he comes back better since a firing Lampard will only benefit England. Won't be too worried about Owen he just came back from a potential career ending injury, he has been our cheif goal-scorer since the turn of the millenium until Rooney appeared on the Int'l stage in Euro 2004, no way would i write him off.

I'd give you Alan Smith but not Crouch & Carrick. Crouch is easily the next best striker England have behind the big two, he intially was touted as a big tall bloke who was good in the air & would struggle at international level & even at club level. But he has shown for Liverpool he is equally good with his feet as with his head & for England who clearly still depend on Beckham's crossing as a key attacking threat since we aren't clicking enough to score freely in open play, Crouch is a key part of that too.

Carrick this season has improved his game a great deal, even in his time @ WHL deserved to picked for England.

No way, Lampard at least has been average. Rooney has been awful. Sorry but he has no divine right to start. Owen fully fit and Crouch (idiot for getting that yellow card btw) are clearly the best pairing at present because they are a good balance and will score goals. Rooney should be coming on for the last 20-30 minutes if necessary when everyone is available.

I'm sure you're one of many here who are dying to have Harmison dropped because he's not done much for a while, well Rooney has done worse than that and they are good replacements - this philosophy particularly applies to forwards.

Solid performance from England. Did exactly what was needed. Beckham's delivery was as good as ever & I thought Bridge and Cole linked up quite well down the left. Why Wes Brown is considered a viable option at RB tho is beyond me. He looked shaky when the ball came near him & offered nothing going forward at all. Hope Comrade Gary is fit for September.

Have to say, England look so much better with Beckham on the right hand side crossing it in. He'd be better off not coming back to collect the ball from Robinson though and staying wide right.

Still think Jamie Carragher should have played at centre back instead of King. Who to my eyes looks rather overweight and it's not like he was playing particular well for Spurs since returning from injury. But Carragher's has always been given a rough deal with England, evident in how he was feed to the Wolves on Friday night against Brazil.

Ok Jamie you have no zero pace, poor distribution but play right back and attempt to stop Ronaldinho and whoever the free flowering left back of Brazil was, Gilberto?
