Cricket Web Blue v Cricket Web Green
CWBCC Stadium
Scorecard
Ball by Ball
Pete Young scored another one-day hundred and Robert Cribb fell short of one of his own, as Cricket Web Blue beat Cricket Web Green by 46 runs. A score of 279-4 proved more than sufficient for the Blues, though CW Green collapsed dramatically from a powerful position in the chase.
After a slow start between Young and makeshift opener Ben Wilshere (36), the Blues wobbled with two quick blows to Tom Halsey. Cribb's turn at the crease was perhaps the best of his OD career. He continued his incredible form in scoring 90 from 79 balls with 6 fours and a 2 sixes, and somehow managed to steal the spotlight from the sublime Young. The opener raised his hundred with a pull shot off Forner, but was caught behind for 103 a ball later. Two balls later, Forner struck again, as Cribb slashed a wide ball to Ben Read in the covers. Dinu DeSilva and Rob Bowen closed off the innings with a brisk partnership of 26. CW Blue scored a total of 91 runs from the final 11 overs, including 3 sixes in a 24-run burst against Rob Malone.
The stiff task of 280 looked a breeze after Malone and Lezama got settled at the crease. Only 25 runs were scored in the first 7 overs, but the openers leaned into the change bowlers, particularly Liam Camps (3-0-33-0 in his first spell). At 110-0 in the 20th over, Fuller entered the attack and Lezama pulled his second ball to deep midwicket, out for 50. The breakthrough slowed the momentum of CW Green, and Cribb's legspin was employed to good effect. In frustration, Nick Scott (14) tried to swat Cribb over midwicket, but instead top-edged and Crampton took a good catch.
An lbw appeal against Corrin was turned down first ball, but Cribb was successful in identical circumstances with the very next ball he delivered to the new batsman, in the following over. The scoring requirement continued to balloon drastically, and even Malone lost his momentum, taking 70 balls to score his second fifty, after his first cost 65. After Dubb-Lynch (13) and Garven (11), no Green batsman reached double figures, and with almost 4 overs to spare, they were all out for 233. Malone's 102 stood out, and as CW Green's one-day season continues to fade, he presses on with his curtain call.

Cricket Web Colts v Cricket Web Black
Pickford Reserve
Scorecard
Ball by Ball
The irrepressible Cricket Web Black easily overcame Cricket Web Colts' modest 226, led by another flashy Ian Markus hundred. Markus scored 128 not out from 133 balls, and though wickets fell around him, he ensured that the Blacks were always in complete control of the game.
Kev Gough roared back into the CW Black one-day unit, taking 5 for 33 in two excellent spells. Up front the seamers were quick and tough, and the Colts struggled to get settled. Chris Butler and Pooja Bharat looked to be finding their feet, however, and a partnership of 59 was the most significant of the innings. Butler mistimed Pickup to long-off on 46, and again the Colts struggled for certainty. Bharat marched on head and shoulders above her teammates, scoring 85 from 82 balls then missing a full ball from Gough. Her courageous innings was clearly the backbone of 226 all out.
The Colts would have been boosted too, as Jack McNamara bowled James Stedman for 9, and Kyle Wright's unorthodox bowling tactis looked to have worked up front. But Markus and Cloete quickly batted the spinner and his seam-bowling partner, Pares, out of the attack. Wright came on and dismissed Cloete for 29, then Markus accelerated with an eager Chaulk for company. Bochat suffered the worst, conceding 25 runs from his 3rd and 4th overs. Wright struck again in yorking Chaulk for 15 at the end of the final powerplay.
But at 133-3, there was hardly any reason for the Blacks to panic. Alex Blackman played with care, and he scored 27 from 37 balls in a partnership of 58. He was caught in the deep attempting to punish Weber, and Dan Smith got the opportunity to finish the job his batsmen started so enthusiastically. Markus' hundred came at a run a ball, so he was afforded the time to slow down by the time Smith took guard. The two took 8.1 overs to score the 37 runs required.
