My second 11 would be;

Smith
De Villiers?
Fleming
Gibbs?
Kallis
Clarke
McCullum
Pollock (I actualy want him in the 1st 11 now, I forgot about him)
Vettori
Clark
Asif

You would have Stephen Fleming opening in a World Test XI?
I would , because he opens in ODIs and I value him more than any other openers around ATM (on current form) including Sehwag, Smith, De Villiers etc.

Fair enough Jason. It's your team so you can pick whoever you like

Kallis is enough of a fifth bowling option for me. If the keeper had to play in the top 6, I'd pick Kumar, but if he can come in at 7, behind that top 6, I'll take Gilly still... especially with Freddie at 8.

Cook
Dravid (Basically an opener these days :p)

Hussey
Clark
Ntini
Murali
Asif

Very happy with that tbh.

how about Asif for Clark

Test match

Middle order: Ponting, Kallis, Dravid. Obvious.
Opening bowler: Ntini. Then struggled to find a decent second bowler.
Wicketkeeper: Sangakkara.
Change bowler: Clark
Spin bowler: Muralitharan
Openers: Cook, Hussey (I expect Australia will shove him up there now)

That leaves a number seven and a second opening bowler. Bond is currently fit, and leaps and bounds ahead of any other opening bowler except for Malinga (then Lee, Asif, Pollock), so takes that spot. Will have to bat eight too. I'll go Pietersen at seven because he scores the quickest of this lot.

Thus

AN Cook
MEK Hussey
*RT Ponting
JH Kallis
R Dravid
+KC Sangakkara
KP Pietersen
SE Bond
SR Clark
M Muralitharan
M Ntini

I really can't see any other Test match attack than Clark-Ntini-Murali-Asif tbh. Bond seems to be making the Test sides on his ODI/WC form. Lee shouldn't factor in at all because he's injured and had an ordinary immediate past series and more or less the same with Flintoff. Really Ntini, Clark and Asif are the best Test fast bowlers in the world for mine without question and Murali is Murali.

Nah, I'll take Clark thank you.

Bond is the most vulnerable bowler in my team, for the reasons Pasag mentioned. I'd still have him in ahead of Ntini or Asif at the moment, although its a pick on perceived potential, rather than form to an extent.

I think it's fine to factor in OD form when selecting a test side. In any case, Bond's test record is good enough to demand a place in the side...he's ranked 5 in the world in tests

I think you can sometimes factor in the selection of a certain player to a countries side into another format when they're doing great in the other one, selectors would be silly to neglect the form, but that's where any connection ends imo. They're completely different formats and Bond playing just two Tests since his comeback (albeit doing very well in the first one) means he shouldn't be near a world XI, imo. Especially since Ntini, Asif and Clark have been outstanding in recent times, imo.

"shouldn't be near a world XI"? We all know what he's capable of, he's fit and firing as we saw in the World cup so have to disagree with you on this pasag. He's more dangerous than all 3 of the bowlers you mentioned above imo.
