Absolute fluke from their only real chance of the game. If liverpool get rid of the dire Zenden for someone with ability, then they should at least score...

This Italian defence does not look at all solid though.

Ageing and looking stretched by the wide men.

I'd probably look at Kewell down the left or maybe Bellamy for Zenden.

I wager that they'll be far more solid second half defending a lead than having to actually score themselves.

Fully setting myself up for a Greigy if it can be awarded for non-cricket predictions...

So, what does everyone think about Pennant?

All the comms are raving about him, because of the possesion and space he's getting, but is he actually doing enough with the ball?

Gerrard missing that chance, if the talisman misses, can't see them doing it.

Bellamy needs to come on to run at the geriatrics imo.

Carragher being dire on the ball has really cost Liverpool so far. Usual offside errors, as I usually mention. Offsides as they are far too difficult for humans to call (unless they're miles offside/onside) and then have so much importance when they go one way or another.

I wish they'd trial some variations like ice hockey's version.

No need for variations imo, all they need to do is properly adhere to the rule thats already there "the benefit of the doubt should go to the attacking side", if fifa, uefa and the various boards just said that, and reiterated it whenever a manager whined, the linos would give most decisions one way, and importantly for football, defences would stop playing offside.

It was a great rule, recently brought in, ignored.

I thought that benefit of the doubt rule was altered? Someone nerdy like Pickup would know.

Oh and that still doesn't alter the fact that linesmen don't have seem to have much of a hope when it's moderately close - so you'll still get plenty of errors.

Game over. That goal was Kewell's fault. Injured so couldn't track back and that left Kaka with the time to play that kind of ball.
