**Official** India in Bangladesh

Bangladesh avoided the follow on, Shadhadat Hossain providing some much needed support for Mortaza.

Argh India needed to get Bangladesh to follow on for any chance.

Ah well fair play Mortaza, saved Bangladesh's butt with bat and ball.

Mashrafe Mortaza eventually falls on 79, meaning that Bangladesh only trail by 149 runs. Draw.

Wouldn't mind it, seeing as how he didn't get too many today. He really needs to get a decent score to justify his place in the side, especially with Karthik breathing down his neck.

GRRR...Jaffer and Karthik are opening...and the match may just end in a draw. Not too bad an idea, since having a wicketkeeper opening the innings is absolutely dumb, unless he's very fit and fresh. EDIT: Jaffer swats one over on-side and a catch is spooned. It's zero and zero in this match. Then it's not too bad keeping Dhoni lower down. Maybe have him coming in early tomorrow.

Looking at Sachin's bowling which broke that partnership, I'd like to know, why was he never played as a regular bowler? Were the Indians missing a trick ten years ago? He seems to have more than a few tricks up his sleeve, and bowled a brilliant googly to get Hossain out. After the exclusion and subsequent retirement of Manoj Prabhakar, he could have been the genuine all-rounder that the country missed for so long. Likewise Ganguly, who had a better chance, being a medium-pacer, rather than a leggie competing with Kumble.

Not really, there aren't many overs left in the day and India need quick runs. Hardly "absolutely dumb".

Dhoni's felt the heat once before, so after having kept wickets for so long, it wouldn't be such a good idea here. Maybe in England or probably Australia (surprisingly, Gilchrist opened once and smashed a few around, then got out early) but not in this heat here.

Don't tell me Jaffer got another jaffa and got out for diddly squat again.
Dravid should be his permanent shadow.

A little diversion here, but looking at the entire Bangladesh innings, what are your comments on VRV Singh's performance? I've seen him bowl very little on either side of the wicket, got decent pace (although nothing close to the Akhtar-Sami-Malinga range, more the Asif-Rana-Dilhara-Mortaza bracket) and got dangerously close to the stumps. While that's a little annoying and may injure him a little, he's at least bowling wicket-to-wicket. More importantly, lack of pace notwithstanding, he tried to force the issue and attack the batting side, which was a welcome development even as Indian bowling attacks, often a man down, tend to get restrictive a little too soon, for too long.
