From the inter state twenty20 and prior ODI matches with India I believe I can conclude a list (long one albeit) of players that should be considered for the cup.
I am aware that Indian domestic cricket is the level of my foot and I am also aware that is a good metaphor
Sachin Tendulkar is pure genius, played well in his four Interstate Trophy matches (which I will now call IST) with two fifties. As a very successful opener in ODI cricket, he is no stranger to accelerating from the get go, his innings against Bermuda (I know they are shocking, but still) was evidence of this.
Speaking of that mauling of Bermuda,
Yuvraj Singh is a clean hitter of the ball, and although he has an average twenty20 record and a IST one to match, he has the potential to hit quick runs, is a great fielder and a handy bowler too.
Sehwag has an IST strike rate of 143 in four matches and is also a handy bowler.
Uthappa failed to convert starts in the IST but he has proved himself a very good hitter of the new ball and strike rated at 132 in the IST.
As a hitter,
Dhoni is the perfect keeper, and strike rated at 186 in the IST.
As for bowlers, here are several unknown medium pacers...and VRV Singh:
Jitender Tarsemlal Billa averaged at 13.61 and at a wicket per 11 balls. His economy rate was also a very strong 6.93.
P Patel took 17 wickets in the IST 8 matches. His economy rate was also a great 6.35.
Ganapathy took 15 wickets at 11.9. He also economied at under 6.5 again.
The left arm
Sreesanth Aravind took 13 wickets at 15 and economied at, you guessed it, well under 6.5
VRV Singh took 11 wickets in 10 matches at under 7 runs per over as well.
Not a squad but a few names to consider, although I am aware most won't be picked.
