Wouldn't be the worst idea though, if Shah scores big in the second innings and Strauss fails.
TBH, I'd not be keen, nor can I see it's likely that Strauss is dropped any time soon. I'm a massive Shah fan and I'm beginning to fade on Strauss - but only beginning.

I'm also very, very keen on Vaughan batting in the middle-order, even if it's only at three, once again. He's got unfinished business there IMO.

I don't think it's likely that Strauss would be dropped either, but if he continues to get starts and throw them away then the selectors would need to think about it. It doesn't reallu worry me where Vaughan bats TBH, as long as he scores runs.

Decent run rate, just over 4, like the way Cook's playing also, working it easily into the leg side, before unleashing his cuts. Good patience.
Looking at Cook's runrate today, if all of our batsmen managed that we'd score 380-390 by stumps. Probably says as much about the bowling as anything, tbh.

Point is I think Vaughan would be far, far more likely to score at three or four than at two.

Seems like Strauss just needs to grow a brain, I only saw the highlights of him getting out, but it looked like he's up to the same shenanigans as he was in Australia.

Against this attack then I'd back him to score runs anywhere, but with Cook and Strauss as the established opening pair then it wouldn't be very smart to disrupt that. However, it will be an interesting decision if Shah does ton up in the 2nd dig and Bell scores a few.

EDIT: I'd drop Collingwood if that were to happen.

Yep, on both counts. Bowling has been all over the place at Cook (strangely was actually a bit better at Strauss) and if KP stays there, well... we might even be on track for another Edgbaston 2005.

Which means that Strauss' place is safe almost no matter what? Like you, I wouldn't ditch him now, but I'd like to think we have some alternatives as openers.
