I just picked the time when his figures started to improve, as I always do with demonstrations of "he's improved", TBH.

I certainly am, bugger staying up this late and relying on cricinfo and this thread for commentary. They said that he had quite a bottom handed grip, is it as 'bad' as Jayasuriya's? It doesn't look that unusual, though TBF he hasn't played a proper stroke yet.

The grip doesn't actually take me as odd as the backlift, ITBT....

Haha, nooooo, nowhere near Jayasuriya standard, but definately more bottom-handed than most.

Given how even I think Strauss, Bell, Cook and Collingwood actually are, I'd probably just drop the worst performed of the match (out of that bunch) if Shah got a ton. Unless of course they all scored well, in which case I'd drop Shah. Leaving Vaughan out isn't really an option, given the fact that he's captain.

It's the way he goes up, down and back up that's odd, and the jerkiness of it - it's very Goochesque. Lara had the huge jump and the massive backlift, but at least it was all one motion.

Given how even I think Strauss, Bell, Cook and Collingwood actually are, I'd probably just drop the lowest scorer of the match if Shah got a ton. Unless of course they all scored well, in which case I'd drop Shah. Leaving Vaughan out isn't really an option, given the fact that he's captain.

If Collingwood, Bell and Shah all score 80-odd each then I don't see why they'd bring Vaughan back in, except for Strauss. It is unlikely that Vaughan will be left out, but I'd prefer him to be regaining some form in the County Championship than hanging around England's Test team. He could be playing for Yorkshire right now nstead of doing nothing

Atherton gets it spot on the money IMO (for those watching Sky) - very nervous-looking, fidgety. Some people are just like that.
