CW Awards for 6th-13th May

Yes, agree with you Prince EWS. Forum names, and only forum names should be used. This specifically means nothing except forum names should be used while referring to members while announcing the awards.

To put the point across so that no one misses it, awards are being conferred and there are various ways to refer to members:

1) By their forum names.
2) By their original names.
3) By their nick names.

For awards, we should use the first option as a must which is option '1' - forum names.

:D

I thought the all-rounder thread was a contender for Gatting/Rana.
TBH, Sean is supposed to pick that-'un, and he mailed me saying I needed to post the awards... without giving me his picks. I just scouted around for the Warney myself and thought "I'll leave whichever other award it was".

I really, really wish I'd just consulted the thing properly. :wallbash: There were any number of contenders for the Rana-Gatting this week, TBH. Very poor of me not to pick a winner from me-vs-you\Swervy in the Hussain-Hayden thread, Sanz-vs-social in the Zimbabwe one (that's the one I'd have gone for, rather than blow my own trumpet), the Slifer-you-me-Kev-Marc-etc. one in the Sobers thread... the list goes on.

Anyone else agree with me? I totally disagree with using people's real names, use the forum ones FFS, really unprofessional Richard.

There are people who have informed in public (on CW) of their real names. I think to address them by their real names is not amiss. But if one has come to know of someone's real name through off-the-forum contacts then the other person's right to privacy needs to be respected.

I think so even if the above post was in jest as has been suggested.

The other thing is that when you address a person by his/her real name (different from whats used here), third parties may not always know who you talking about which makes the person feel a bit left out :}

Rob, Fuller, Pratyush, Perm, Gelman, Fiery (although in his case it's just a general thing which completely baffles me)...
Just think it's cliquey and even rude to members who dont have a clue who you are talking about. Not sure why this would baffle you

Well done to all the winners, have been quite slack myself for not spending time to research the milestones but i will get around to it sometime this weekend.

I have to say, I've looked at this thread and don't have a clue who Gelman is, apart from having a name very similar to Lee Germon

I don't know, it's all abit strange imo. Real names are fine in OT, everyone there knows each other well and it's the same people posting there more or less. If someone new comes, they'll figure out who everyone is in time. It's not especially hard, especially using the search function.

CC on the other hand, really only forum names should be used most of the time as there are always new members coming along and there isn't the same sort of atmosphere there is in OT.

Also wrt to Richard, I hope you don't take offense but it's really weird how whenever you find out someone's real name, from what I've noticed, you automatically stop using their forum name and start using their first names, regardless of whether or not they're commonly referred to that on the forum. Like everyone calls vic_orthdox Jack or AussieDomminance Rodgie, but why do you start calling me Zac or Adharcric Akhil when practially no-one on the forums ever refer to us/him in that manner? Like I don't care that much, but it is really quirky and a little bit cringeworthy I might add. I don't like to jump on any bash Richard bandwagon that seems to happen here every so often, but it's just something that has been annoying me for a while.

I'm personally gutted I've never won the Saj (or to the best of my knowledge). For all my ranting in OT (has become CW famous tbh), my rants haven't been able to get me the gong.

Really grinds my gears. No it sickens me :@

Make a decent one in the "What Grinds My Cricketing Gears" thread and you wouldn't be too far off.
