It's only logical to assume so, or no-one could explain how or why Joyce leapfrogged Shah. The only way to explain it is to assume it never happened and that Joyce was always ahead of Shah in the selectors' thoughts.We don't know exactly how they were thinking, though, because IIRR no-one ever said anything on the matter.
