Matthew Nicholson making his debut for Surrey today, had a pretty decent time with Northants last year and his experience will be come in handy.

Northants to score a 1000, David Sales 550 not out. Cameron White 50 overs for 250 runs. :)

Although, congrats to Tesco, every little helps.

Just having a look at these county sides and a lot of them have non English keepers. How many sides these actually still have English keepers. I remember it wasn't so long ago that overseas keeper never could get runs as overseas pros in England, unless they played as specialist batsmen i.e like Andy Flower.

Quite a lot of them are English

Derbyshire: Pipe
Durham: Mustard
Essex: Foster
Glamorgan: Wallace (technically Welsh I think)
Gloucestershire: Adshead
Kent: Jones (Sort of English)
Lancashire: Sutton
Leicestershire: Nixon/New
Middlesex: Scott/Nash
Nottinghamshire: Read
Surrey: Batty
Sussex: Prior
Worcestershire: Davies

Off the top of my head, all of those players are English, or at least English qualified. 13 out of 18 is a fairly high proportion I'd say.

Yorkshire's, Joe Sayers is a marvellous throwback, his scored eight runs in nearly eighty minutes of cricket and his career strike in an era of flat wickets and pathetic county bowling is under 40 (his List A record is not much better as well).

However, according to Cricinfo, Sayers is an 'attacking, confident and aggressive cricketer at all times'.

His gunning it now, should have 300 before lunch. Shame he took a 'while' to get going yesterday or he could have done a Barry Richards.

Haha Joe Sayers came to Manly a couple season back to play grade cricket in Sydney. He was talked up as the next big thing to come from England, future international, he finished the season playing 3rds. Mind you he did shown some talent when on song, but was woefuly inconsistant.

Don't know where they got that from - nothing more than a bog standard county pro.

Probably from the same people who wrote his cricinfo profile

They were mainly just talking him, to make it sound like they signed some gun player. Rather then just wasting money on an average overseas player, over giving a local junior a run in the 1st XI.

Wow, players get paid to play Grade cricket?

Are there any websites that list all the grade scores btw ?

After one decent over from Arafat, Durham are back to smashing Kent around Chester-le-Street. RR is back up to almost 5 an over.

Meanwhile, Blackwell's filling his boots on an obviously flat track - cue calls for him to come back into the England side

Di Venuto gets his double ton as Durham get maximum batting points reaching 400.

I'm fairly happy with that, I'd be surprised if Durham don't bowl Kent out for less.
