Ball by Ball
For the second time this season Daniel Smith was out at a crucial venture for Cricket Web Black, and Rob Malone bowled a tremendous death spell to guide Cricket Web Green to a thrilling victory. Smith smacked a Malone delivery into the hands of Andrew Garven at extra cover, and the resulting stunning catch swung the game for the Greens. Looking stronger and fitter than ever before, Malone bowled intelligently and consistently to take 2-24 and limit the CW Black chase at the death.
Classy half-centuries from Ash Chaulk (72) and Smith (62) set the game up intriguingly, and CW Black entered the final ten overs needing 49 runs from 60 balls, with 8 wickets in hand. Cameron removed Armstrong, as he nicked a yorker length ball through to Lezama for 25. In the following over Smith perished, much to his dismay. He walked off with head bowed in fear of his recurrence of his crucial dismissal earlier in the season. Arnold and McMeekin struggled to time the ball at the outset, and both were out within 10 balls of each other. CW Black then needed 14 from 19 balls with Zac Gelman and Blake Donald at the crease.
Rose and Malone allowed a combined 7 runs from the 48th and 49th overs. Rose then charged in to defend 8 runs in the final over of the innings. He speared yorkers at the toes of both batsmen, mixing in a bouncer for the 4th ball. The ball was hooked for a single after some stunning fielding by Cameron in the deep. In total only 5 singles came from the over, allowing CW Green to sneak victory by 2 runs.
Earlier Malone starred with the bat in notching 51 after an uncertain start that saw CW Green at 41-2. However it was Ben Read who pressed on. He first settled into his innings in taking 17 balls to reach double figures. In scoring his last 77 runs, however, he faced only 60 balls. In total Read scored 85 from 76 balls and hit 7 fours and 2 sixes. Gelman was by far the best of the bowlers, taking 4-49, though George Roberts exhibited excellent control for his 2-41.

Cricket Web Red v Cricket Web Blue
PDV Dome
Scorecard
Ball by Ball
A commanding hundred by Matt Luff went a long way to helping Cricket Web Red diminish the demons of their first-class defeat at the PDV Dome, as they crushed Cricket Web Blue by 6 wickets in the one-day fixture. Luff scored 115 from 124 balls, an innings including 9 fours and 2 sixes. Together with Kenny Dobson (79), the second wicket partnership produced 185 runs, and the Reds chased a target of 248 with great ease.
The threat of May-Quinlan was neutralized superbly. The young fast bowler was wicketless for 52 runs in his 10 overs. It was symptomatic of an impotent CW Blue seam attack, though the spin Gooljar and Cribb was far worse. The legspinners combined for figures of 10-0-71-0. After a rough start, Sean Fuller returned well to finish with 2 for 47, the best of the figures. CW Red was clearly the better team on show on the day, and paced the chase exceptionally.
CW Blue would rue missed opportunities with the bat, however. Pete Young made amends for his missed chance two games ago, bringing up a hundred at the top of the order on this day. He was out for 102, but he and Jack Ullungura (80) set up the innings for a huge score. At the dismissal of the Young, CW Blue were 177-2 after 37.5 overs. But the bowlers regrouped to allow only 70 runs from the final 12.1 overs of the innings. Some 6 wickets also fell in the time, largely due to the full and fast bowling of David Kennett, who took 4 wickets. Amir was also sharp in returning 3 wickets.
