My tip to do well this season Kent are having another nightmare it would seem. Things will get considerably better when Kemp and Hall arrive but its sheer absurdity that Darren Stevens is starting in front of Dexter.

Half a ton for Vaughan but Warne's now into the attack and he picks up Tony McGrath third ball in.

Looks like Monty has been taken to task by Ali Cook, forty one runs from six overs.
Haha, I think it was only yesterday that someone tried to tell us all that Cook rubbish against spin, only had one gear and couldn't score quickly even if the bowling was poor. There goes that theory! :p

Don't remember anyone claiming he was rubbish against spin as he never has been - just that he's usually a frightful blocker of it.

I'd guess MSP's just had a rare off-morn.

Oh, indeed, and I wholeheartedly agree (I just don't post "I agree" every time I do, remember?), any half-decent player will score quickly if you bowl enough bad deliveries at him.

The only thing that dictates typical pace of scoring is just exactly what is a bad delivery. A bad delivery to Adam Gilchrist is rather more wide-ranging than one to, say, Mark Richardson. But if you bowl enough at either, they WILL score quickly.

Nice to see Vaughan scoring a fifty (let's hope he goes on) but I find the ECB's inconsistency puzzling. Vaughan, Monty, Nixon playing this round, while KP, Flintoff, Saj Mahmood and Bell are not. Why not? Considering Flintoff's woeful batting form the ECB should be insisiting on him playing today (even just as a batsman if they don't want him bowling) and as for Mahmood he needs to learn how to bowl and you don't do that in the nets...

barring Monty, It's hardly inconsistent. Neither Vaughan or Nixon were involved in the Ashes series so are less in need of a rest.
