Total legend.

Everyone's pretty fond of him from what I know - he's revered beyond most foreign players in Australia, and rarely if ever patronised by the Ian Chappell types the way almost everyone else is from time to time.Because arguably his most memorable feats have been achieved against England, and as Benny2k1's post suggests, while revered around the cricketing world, the English fans seem to have a special fondness for him, in general behind only the Windies fans I'd suggest.
Like this: :notworthy?Looking for "notworthy" with a ":" in front of it...
yeah, should produceLike this: :notworthy?
If he had Warney's scriptwriter, yeah, but I guess the point is this is where HE prefers to finish.I'd much prefer him to have ended with a Test, TBH.
I'm a smart one, me...yeah, should produce
Although I see what you've done, you cunning devil...
That was what I meant, I was really surprised he wanted to finish this way.If he had Warney's scriptwriter, yeah, but I guess the point is this is where HE prefers to finish.
Me too, that's why the tour of England was shaping up to be huge. However he did what he was comfortable with at the time, we can't argue with that.I'd much prefer him to have ended with a Test, TBH.
Unless I'm horribly mistaken, both his 375 and 400* were against England, and as much as anything, they are going to be the individual feats that he is most commonly remembered for - not necessarily his greatest moments but, as I suggested, his most memorable.Everyone's pretty fond of him from what I know - he's revered beyond most foreign players in Australia, and rarely if ever patronised by the Ian Chappell types the way almost everyone else is from time to time.
Lara's had some highs against us (and over here too) but he's also had some awful lows. As he has against most others. And I for one think it's highly inappropriate for him to end his career with a ODI, when it's patently his 2nd-best form of the game.
Finish in your own "country" I guess.Me too, that's why the tour of England was shaping up to be huge. However he did what he was comfortable with at the time, we can't argue with that.
I cant speak for EVERY English fan but MOST of the ones i have spoken too have rated Lara as the best batsmen of his generation.Because arguably his most memorable feats have been achieved against England, and as Benny2k1's post suggests, while revered around the cricketing world, the English fans seem to have a special fondness for him, in general behind only the Windies fans I'd suggest.
Most Australians seem to mention the 277 more - and possibly the consecutive 211 and 153* (lucky though both may have been).Unless I'm horribly mistaken, both his 375 and 400* were against England, and as much as anything, they are going to be the individual feats that he is most commonly remembered for - not necessarily his greatest moments but, as I suggested, his most memorable.
And I'm not suggesting fans from other countries don't love the guy, I've just thought (and I may be right or wrong) that even given that, English fans seem to have a particularly special place for him in their hearts, that's all.
Nah, Sky have had long-term contracts with all 3 of Australia, South Africa and West Indies.I cant speak for EVERY English fan but MOST of the ones i have spoken too have rated Lara as the best batsmen of his generation.
When he played for Warwickshire he was on a different planet to any one else, and also we get to see all west indies home matches and quite a few away on sky sports, probably only second in coverage to England!
Certainly don't think it's in T&T...Finish in your own "country" I guess.
Actually where is the England-WI game?
You love like a gun... the power is strong... when things turn bad and things go wrong...Brian Lara not touring England? There are a few "I told you so"s to be stated here...
