***Official*** English Domestic Season 2007

Well yeah, he's good enough (probably - just) to make his own county side now, unlike 2001...
Sidebottom has been Notts's leading bowler in both forms of the game for the last 2-3 years. He's been a consistent member of their team.I'd like to see him in the OD line up TBH.An attack of Anderson,Sidebottom,Flintoff,Tom Smith and Panesar in the near future would be very good IMO.

Panesar should not be playing ODIs now and I said that before his debut.

I'd honestly prefer the like of Mascarenhas and Martin-Jenkins in the ODI side - both can bit a bit too.

Martin Jenkins  .He averaged 60 last year.He obviously had ability 3-4 years ago but in the last couple of years he has really been of form.Mascheranhas would be a shrewd pick however.

Who cares about his average? It's economy-rate that counts.

In any case, neither have been especially good in the last couple of seasons. I hope they might get back to their old selves this season.

I wonder whether Pothas could come in and do a fill-in job in the ODI team after qualifying this season? He's 33, so he's a good bit younger than Nixon. Better batsman than any of the other contenders.

Gotta say I think if Pothas was going to play it had to be this winter.

Too late now IMO. Gotta go back to Read in ODIs, there's no-one better of those who can be expected to be around in 2011.

So why drop Monty? Considering his economy rate is highly impressive. Martin-Jenkins is so left field it's unreal, England need wicket taker's not piss taking selections.

So go on then - pick AP Davies and Graham Napier. See how many wickets they take at ODI level.

As for MSP - I suggest you check his economy-rate (against ODI-class sides, remember) because it's certainly not what I call good, at all.

I'd be inclined to go for Davies myself. I don't rate Read all that highly.

Davies can't play the short game - yet, at any rate.

Don't rate Read in Tests but always have in ODIs. And Davies is currently the other way around, though I'm not convinced I'd chuck him into any international cricket yet, he's only 20.

True, but come 2011, I'd like to see Davies in place for the next world cup. We currently seem to have a glut of keepers who are decent for their counties, but none of whom can cut it for England.

That's an interesting one, TBH... Jones hasn't done anything of note for Kent in the longer game since the middle of 2003 - look at it. Neither he nor Foster have ever been any use at the shorter game, either. Read is about the only long-term English-qualified (ie Pothas excluded) one to do anything of note in the post-Stewart era.

And as I say - to date Davies has been no exception. To pick him for ODIs right now would be a disaster IMO, because he's done nothing to suggest he can bat at that level yet. That might change, but then again it might not. IMO, right now Read's the best option.

But I never knew you were a Sussex fan, and only a Sussex fan could champion those 2 as England prospects (good as both have been for any number of years) given that both are now older than would be ideal.

As for Prior... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hasn't England filled up it's South African born player quota? You could probably come up with a decent African born XI who went on to play for England.
