Official NBA 2006-2007 season thread

Phoenix are one of the most misunderstood teams in the league. Everyone thinks they're a running team, despite running the pick and roll so often & getting to the line more often. Even their defence is improving. It will take temperament and a special kind of chemistry for them to make it out of the West, but they have a shot.

I wouldn't give Dallas a psychological edge over anybody.
well it's clear that you aren't willing to give dallas too much credit for a brilliant season and you certainly have a soft spot for the suns, let's see what happens in the playoffs...:)

by the way, did you watch spurs vs mavs today? the spurs imploded again at the end and lost after leading most of the way...but the duncan ejection was an absolute joke, clamping down on players is all well and good but that was just plain ridiculous....

Do note that Chauncey billups was rested for the game and the starters barely played any mins because we have clinched the number 1 seed and we are resting our players for the playoffs. I'm not saying you didnt beat is, but it isn't a win to be proud of
well i ridiculed the raptors when started making this run but now you have to admit they are looking serious in the east...they aren't as good as a full-strength pistons team but to put it mildly, they are certainly no first round pushover...

Indeed I will agree they are better than I thought they were a few months ago. And like you said, still not better than the Pistons though. A Wizards Raptors match up would be an interesting one and I think that would go to Raptors. But if Raptors fall to #4, than I think Cavs will take the series over Raps.

Watched the game today and I am pretty confident that right now SPURS are the best team in Western Conf. Duncan did provoke the ref again and again and deserved the ejection. He wasn't as innocent as he was trying to look. Mavs took advantage of the situation. But despite that it was a one posession game at the end and that's why I feel that Spurs are better at full strength.

oh i know his look of righteous indignation whenever he gets called, it's kind of funny, but i don't feel he deserved that 2nd technical and the ejection at all....in the spurs-mavs matches this season, every match has been more or less like this, close till the end, the spurs sneaking through in the 1st, but in the next three, the mavs have nosed ahead at the finish line, duncan or no duncan....

Add to this the fact that this game meant nothing to the Mavs, while the Spurs were still playing for an outside chance of the #2 seed. It would've been easy for the Mavs to take it easy and not show up for this game, but they played with passion. Like Anil pointed out, in all previous match-ups (with Duncan playing), the games have been close. Oh well, enough of the "I don't think this team is really that good" or "I think this team will win it all" statements. The playoffs are coming soon. We'll find out soon enough! :)

IMO SA are playing much better than they played early/mid season and the Mavs did have to get the monkey off their back after their two straight losses to Suns. It should give them the much needed confidence for the playoffs.

They should also take Tuesday's game seriously because there is a decent chance that they will end up playing GS in the first round and they know that GS matches up very well with them and a lot of times NBA is just about matchups. ;)

Oh no question the Spurs have played a lot better post All-Star break. In fact, the Spurs just edge out the Mavs for the best record in the NBA after the All-Star game. Trust me, I'm a big fan of that team. In fact, if the Spurs meet the Suns in the 2nd round of playoffs, I would expect the Spurs to beat the Suns.

You are right about Mavs vs Warriors. We don't match up well with that team. I wouldn't mind if we win against them this week and they miss the playoffs. Like I said before, I don't expect the Warriors to defeat the Mavs in a 7 game series. However, I do think they're capable of stretching it to a 6 or 7 game series, which would tire the Mavericks for the rest of the playoffs. Ideally, the Mavs (as well as the Spurs and Suns) should take care of their first round opponents in 5 games.

I thought duncan got his second technical whilst laughing with Robert Horry on the bench. I thought it was rediculous but if he was provoking the ref over and over then its understandable.

On another note the stupid warriors looked to have knocked out the clippers from the last spot in the west!! hopefully la can win their last couple and get through

I want to see Warriors in the playoffs this year. I love both teams, but I'm liking the Warriors more this season, although I hate Stephen Jackson with passion

crawford gets suspended for railing against duncan...excellent, the refs have things a bit too slanted in their favour right now....:)

I agree. The way Crawford treated Duncan in that game was utterly ridiculous.
