This is why Australia need to play 5 bowlers with Watson out. Tait is bowling puss so we may very well need 15 overs or more from Symonds and Clarke. Symonds and Clark should be used just in case Tait/Johnson have a bad day at the office really, not be relied upon to act as a genuine bowler between themselves AND do that.

Watson is indeed vital for the team balance, but without replacing him for another genuine all-rounder (James Hopes) then you are always going to be left slighty weaker in either the batting or bowlwing. It just depends on how the comparatively weak either of these discipines actually becomes.

Exactly, with the majority of their batting lineup being in form (Symonds and Hussey) being the exception then it seems like folly to shore up their batting by having Hodge bat at #7. Given the fact that they are missing Lee, and with Tait a liability on occasions then they definately need to go into the game with 5 genuine bowlers. That way, if one of them doesn't fire then Symonds and Clarke can make up the overs.

McGrath and Bracken bowling really well here, the ball is still getting a bit of lateral movement and they are extracting it nicely.

And what was going to be potentially the first exciting match of the World Cup goes down the drain. Might be heaps selfish on my part but after staying up for nearly every game and having not seen anything interesting yet (the two close games involving SL were boring for the most part) I think I was entitled to expect to see some good cricket tonight.

Ponting showed great awareness to pull out of the catch, it looked like he was going to end up diving infront of Matthew Hayden but he restrained himself well.
